Scooby, really picture it, the future. The picture the WTS paints of the future is a lie and they know it.
They have no intention of building you a big beautiful home so you can sit in it and enjoy your life up on your remote mountain!
Oh and as for exploring the earths natural beauty, do you really think they are going to let you do that?
"Get back to work!" Do you think you will have the time and resources to explore the universe and study the fauna and flora? (things you would like to do now, but have given up for the meetings and field service)
What about outer space? Have an interest in those things? What if the elders decide you should concentrate on the cleanup project and removing the garbage and refuse left after the big destruction? You better listen to them -----or else! Want to explore the planets on the internet? Forget about it. Conscription of all men and women and children will be the order of the day in the paradise for many years.
For the first few hundred years or so your life will be a slave's hell! Think regimented Bethel Life!
You think the elders now are arrogant! Wait until the paradise! They will have total control over your life and your family's life. You think the elders wives are nosy busybodies? Wait until everyone is a nosy busy body into your affairs! Remember you can still die in the paradise! You will be zapped for even a naughty thought!!
The Rank and File are being fed a load of nonsense and paying for it with their lives.
When do they think the Society will release them from their slave condition and allow them to do what they want, they and their families?
I am not afraid of Armageddon. If it comes, fine. But I do not want to live in slavery anymore and be told what to do, when to do it, and to record my time doing it---- or else.
NO THANKYOU!!

But what if they're right............still the Truth?
by ScoobySnax inthis will probably apply to few here, but to me it'll always be that way.
it's the what if syndrome maybe, but it's always there.
i still think that as a core belief system the jw's have it right, even if their delivery isn't always right.

How did you handle birthdays at work -school?
by sspo inwhen i look back, i foolish it was as people around you at work enjoyed a piece of cake and you were the only one that refused it.
you had to explain why we could not have a piece and how wrong it was in god's eyes.. looking back it was stupidity at its best, the almighty god jehovah will destroy you if you eat a piece of cake.. the jw's brag they are some of the most educated bible scholars in the world that know how to worship god..

Like Blondie where I worked had a Holiday Social Club. You had to join to be invited to the B-days and Holiday parties. If you were not on the list you were not bothered. Pretty smart on the managers part.
But today I am actually attending my first Birthday party since being ousted! Yeah, me and my man are invited to a party for under 30s complete with adult refreshments and music!
I am so past worrying about what God thinks of me anymore. -

by awol inafter 8 yrs not being a jw (not dfd just left)... my b.i.l has decided for the good of his family that they are not to associate with me!
my sis was like my best friend, and now .... after they had marital difficulties (which he knows only the half of, cos she has kept her mouth shut) he has now become a mini man!!
he has told my sis and my beautiful nieces and nephews that they cannot associate or speak to me at all.

AWOL, as painful as this situation is....many of us have been through it and have survived.
Just plan to be there for your sis.
Meantime tell her you love her and are always there for her.
And go ahead and tell your nieces and nephews that you love them dearly too.
Such $h*t because of all that religious gobbledygoop! -

Banished represents the two times I was thrown out by my family and loved ones First by my own father and mother for getting baptized as a JW Second by my JW friends and family years later Like the others have stated getting thrown out on your own is horribly painful and a lonely experience. But it can have a strengthening effect as well. I too have managed to survive and have developed an inner confidence that I can overcome most adversity. I have made a lovely life here in exile. But the name and sad face are a reminder that every now and then a deep inner pain wells up inside me and stabs me in the heart and gut when I least expect it. I can be out in nature and looking at a waterfall or at a summer gathering of friends or townfolk and be watching children playing or in my house doing something. At these times my mind wanders back to times past and faces emerge in my thoughts...faces of those I called my loving parents or my dear friends. At this time I am weakened by an attack of deep sorrow and then the sorrow turns to anger, anger that I didnt stand up to the crap and the mistreatment at the time. I am here because that sorrow and that anger are part of my life now and I must accept that. Every time I post here I grow a little stronger and achieve a little more distance in my emotions over the past. I wish I could take a pill to forget forever my involvement with the JWs. But there is no magic pill for that. I appreciate this forum and all of you who participate in it. Because of you and this forum this sad face is not my real face all the time anymore.

You should not expect justice!!
by Gill inthe watchtower org does not believe that 'justice and equality' should be pursued nowadays.
justice and equality or only to be expected in a never neverland that will never come.. november 1st watchtower on page 14, shows how the borg uses ecclesiastes to teach it's slaves to accept oppression, poverty and injustice.. page 14 it discusses ecclesiastes 1:15 and explains it under:.
lessons for us:.

Exactly Gil! You are correct! The Watchtower wants its slaves to feel totally helpless to do anything now to correct anything wrong in the world. They are told to wait on God to do everything. It is a powerless feeling they promote and instill in the hearts of their members. You have to ask yourself why they promote this concept to the R&F when they at Crooklyn, retain boatloads of lawyers to fight for and defend their rights to promote and teach this disempowering garbage! They work hard to shut down websites and silence opposers. They brag in their history how many times they have gone to battle for their freedom. They themselves do not follow the same lay down and die message. By doing so do they weaken the hands that might SUE THEM for all the years wasted in their org or for the unjust unmerciful disfellowshipping and the breaking up of families that occurs because of it? Or do they want to discourage the members from lawsuits that would waste dollars otherwise directed to the WTS? Who knows! The brainwashing absurd ideas they promote are hard to swallow after years and years and years of trying to do so.

SHOCKING!
by Dansk ini just managed to see the last 15 minutes or so of the 'tonight with trevor mcdonald' programme on british tv.
it concerned young children under 12 who had their blood tested and it was found they all had (at least those i saw) high levels of toxic chemicals in their blood.
one family ate organic produce and were generally the "healthy" type and yet their daughter had the highest levels of certain chemicals than others in the study.. a toxicologist said that although the chemicals were high we shouldn't worry too much as they are twice as high in the usa!!!.

Ian, not to get too personal, but what if any changes have you made to your lifestyle to keep free from contaminants that are known carcinogens or which can lead to or cause cancer? I feel if there is anything we can do we might as well implement these strategies to do what we can for our concience sake if nothing else. "One out of two" huh? That is where we are heading with cancer after all the money and research? I cry "COVERUP CONSPIRACY!" With this latest spinach scare only once I heard a newswomen remark that the spinach growers used nonpotable water to irrigate the spinach fields. She also mentioned the FDA warned growers to stop this practice. But that was the last I heard about this practice of using water not fit to drink to water the crops. What the heck is in non-potable water that is dangerous? E-Coli perhaps? After my experience with the Watchtower and the Elders I do not trust most institutions to care for me or give me the straight truth. One must think carefully and read between the lines and ask oneself "Who butters their bread?" Is it the pharmaceutical companies? The oil companies? The power company? Etc.... Am I being herded to buy a product? For what reason?

Im glad they went to the press. This should be done more often by more people. I think Mr. and Mrs. Gibbons articulated their distress and anguish very well. "If I had committed a crime I would expect my family to support me. But I committed no crime!" Very well put. What was the crime for which this mother and father are being shunned and demonized? Disagreeing with the elders! Hope everyone reads this and thinks REAL HARD about studying the bible with the JWs or attending their meetings.

A reminder to all of you....
by LivingInReality inshannon here.... a confessed "lurker" for a very, very, long time and a rare poster to the board......i just wanted to drop a quick note to all of you.. please keep doing what you're doing..providing a refuge for so many.
you all make me feel reassured that if in 4 years from now i may have a breakdown (because deprogramming is a lifelong ailment) and need to find strength and encouragement, or even just someone to hear my story and believe me...i will always know that you are all here.
no judgment, no criticism...but instead providing a way for anyone who visits this board a little challenge at times, a large amount of humor, some psychological services...and a great big dose of the real truth.. you guys are great...you make me laugh, you make me smile and you make me feel fantastic about my decision to leave by your constant reassurance that truly living is all about thinking for yourself.. i'll be sure to start posting more regularly because i'd like to start to get to know you guys better and in turn become a source of comfort, wisdom and humor to others that have gone through what we have.. hugs to you all.. shannon.

Confess and you won't be DF'd!!! Puke alert!!!!

I agree with Pistoff. This is not the way it happens in real life in the back room. They must have gotten a new writer on the staff for I have never heard such a heartfelt lying advertisement for the confession/df process before. Our families will read this and think "Tsk tsk, guess "so and so" was an unrepentant demon-hearted Devil worshiper. Good thing they were removed from our midsts!" when in truth what happened at that meeting was a travesty of justice and mercy by unprofessional unmerciful clods.

Im not sure if it was stated....that the reinstatement process can take longer than six months. It is purely at the elders' discretion whether to reinstate or not. I have heard some have waited six months to a year and even longer. Tell her it could be up to a year sitting in the back of the hall and book studies in silence and shame. It was too much for this heart I'll tell you. I kept thinking............from God's view is this right? What would my parents think if they were alive? What would my grandparents think? What do other good Christian folk think of this insulting abusive treatment? What would Jesus think? What would the prodigal son and his father think? It is not healthy, is counter productive and mean spirited, unchristian and a very ugly aspect of the religion.
