Interesting Booker. I think you should be glad you are so well adjusted and happy and have put away your sorrow and anger and have moved on. But people heal from their wounds and experiences at different rates. Also dont forget how much fun it is to bash something that mistreated you! Getting together is an opportunity to throw stones at and smear the ones who enslaved you and then expelled you after so many years.

Brooke, how would your husband feel about you going to dinner with an old beau? Alot of men would not be comfortable with a guy going to dinner with his wife.
You might want to ask the guys why a guy would want to meet up with an old girlfriend. They might have some insight.

Someone is leaving brand new mags at my local laundrette. I didnt think they were supposed to leave the current issues at wash and drys but there they are every month in both English and Spanish. You might check your local Ducky Wucky for the latest issues.

Truckerich, you said "I would love to go to church and pray to God but...."
Then you should go!
I went and I was so delighted and surprised and touched by the enthusiasm and real faith displayed by the members of the church I chose to visit. Two women were talking in a store where I worked about their church. They agreed it was so much fun to go. I asked which church they were talking about. They told me it was The Halleluia Happiness Church (or something like that) It sounded very upbeat. I asked if they talk about hell fire alot and explained I cannot stomach hell fire sermons. They assured me their pastor didnt talk much about hell fire. Mainly he spoke about positive thinking and loving your neighbor.
I went and enjoyed it immensely! Next I tried a Methodist Church and they were very upbeat too.
I think steering towards the universalist and unitarian churches is good advice. You need a positive happy experience. A Baptist friend from work told me I would not be interested in visiting her church because they do talk alot about being a sinner and being soiled and needing the blood of Jeeeeeesus to wipe it away. (Which may be true or not, but you might want to go first to a more upbeat positive sermon)
Dont let your Watchtower experience rob you and your son of a wholesome relationship with Jesus and God.
Take care,

But what if they're right............still the Truth?
by ScoobySnax inthis will probably apply to few here, but to me it'll always be that way.
it's the what if syndrome maybe, but it's always there.
i still think that as a core belief system the jw's have it right, even if their delivery isn't always right.

SHOCKING!
by Dansk ini just managed to see the last 15 minutes or so of the 'tonight with trevor mcdonald' programme on british tv.
it concerned young children under 12 who had their blood tested and it was found they all had (at least those i saw) high levels of toxic chemicals in their blood.
one family ate organic produce and were generally the "healthy" type and yet their daughter had the highest levels of certain chemicals than others in the study.. a toxicologist said that although the chemicals were high we shouldn't worry too much as they are twice as high in the usa!!!.

Ian, my aunt who is 91 and who just returned from a vacation in Hawaii has battled and won breast cancer and now is fighting bladder cancer. She has had many rounds of chemo and so far is in remission.
She is a brave woman who does not give up easily.
When she was 14 she saved the life of a five year old boy in Santa Monica Beach on the California Coast.
For this she received the Carnegie award for heroism given out at the time.
She got as a reward Life Time Scholarship. This meant she could study at any institution of her choice and get a career all paid for by the Carnegie Institute.
This opportunity and its rewards took her all over the world! She has been to every continent and practically every country. She decided not to marry and instead poured herself into her career and travelling life. When she was 50 she came down with breast cancer. She took the radical treatment offered and survived just fine! Then about five years ago she came down with this insidious bladder cancer.
She fights it and fights it. She is not Japanese but likes to eat that way she says. At 91 that old white lady loves shushi and fish broth with seaweed. Last year she visited Ireland to do some research at Trinity College---all paid for by the Carnegie Institute.
Needless to say she is amazing! She accepts her cancer but is determine to outlive it!
Hope this story gives you courage Ian.
