Thanks for that information on Spong. It's hard enough to understand the Bible without throwing in every manner of imaginative voyages based not on the Bible but on personal fantasy. Either the Bible is understood on its own or it is not. Mr. Spong is entitled to his opinions but in the end that's all they are, his opinions.

as you know, he posted to us on wednesday morning (after the tuesday night vigil) saying that he felt very bad.
claire ended up having to go home from work because he was feeling so weak and having some trouble breathing.. here are her emails.

I've been to churches that do not hand out Bibles. I've also been to those that do.
As for the JWs I suppose their tradition is not to hand them out. Most JWs come with their own and most people who visit do so after being invited by a JW who supplies them with what they need.
