they are not the "most educated people on earth" in spite of their enrollment in the theocratic ministry school.. witnesses are not the best neighbors because they won't involve themselves with you unless they can preach to you.. .

do you feel there was a "gap" between those who had more materially and those families or individuals who had less?.
example: did those who had "less" materially not get invited to private homes for get togethers as frequently or not at all?.

Yes there was a gap between the "haves" and "have-nots" in our congregation.
Those who had money were better thought of, particularly if they were prepared to give
more to the congreagation funds. They tended to get invited everywhete, whereas the
less well-off, particularly pioneers who would have found invitations to dinner etc beneficial,
got considerably less invitations.
if you are a former jw, or just one who is interested enough in the cult to spend time here on jwd, i emplore you to accept a 'bible study' with jehovah's witnesses when they next call and offer.
by so doing, and having of course a full knowledge of the doctrines and practices they employ, you have a special opportunity!
you can use the study for the following;.
It's an interesting idea Jeff. It's not something I could do as I live where I lived when I was a jw, so it woulf have to be someone new to the area for me to fool them, but for anyone who can pull it off it could be woth it.

They are much better liars, have the act of ignorantly ignoring people they've known for years down to a fine art, and there is no one better than a jw at obeying orders, especially the ones issued by the governing body.
Not the kind of talents I'd want, but we must give credit where it's due...

i believe that the society - and its lawyers - are agonizing over this trend in the us.
Interesting metatron, and I'll bet the gb have seen this as well, or had it pointed out to them.
They are having enough trouble with child abuse lawsuits now, so I hear. They wouldn't want
to risk any more from another source, so maybe news like this will bring some "new light" on
how they do things in future. If they did make any changes because of their fear of lawsuits,
they certainly wouldn't inform their members that that was the reason for the change.
