Hi Blondie, This is only the second week I've read your "Comments"..... but I'm thoroughly impressed !! Your post had me laughing, and shaking my head in disgust... So many of your conclusions are the same types of things that would go through my head every time I was at a meeting or read any JW literature.... YUCK!!! I haven't read a WT in a year, I had forgotton how horrible they make me feel..... It's like nails on a chalkboard... Thanks again! I'm a fan!! GGG |

Hamster question -- Teddy's not doing well
by cruzanheart inteddy is jennie's almost-2-year-old hamster, which i know is old for a hamster.
last week when we cleaned his cage i noticed quite an odor about him and the cage, so i gave him a quick bath using a drop of dog shampoo and holding him in my hand to minimize trauma.
he seemed to take it well and fluffed up nicely, but i noticed while i was bathing him that his tummy was almost hairless and seemed a bit scabby.. last night he was walking around his cage kind of hunched over, like he's favoring his tummy.

opinions please
by Ellie inwould you all please give me your honest opinions.. if you were in a relationship with someone who through alcohol had let you down badly in the past, how would you feel about them going out a lot?.
how much freedom would you give them?.
would you think it reasonable for them to either go out without you once a week, sometimes staying out all night but certainly till very late?.

I grew up in a home with an alcoholic father, although he functioned well in everyday life. The fighting that went on in our house as a result of his drinking was hell for us kids. My mother's marriage to an alcoholic changed who she is as a person. It changed us kids so much, too, that I spent the better part of my adult life dealing with 'issues' surrounding it. My sister has never gotten over her issues. And it changed my perception of both my parents.
If you tolerate addictive behavior, it WILL change who you are, and it will affect your kids. All that can be combatted, but it takes a tremendous effort. Only you can decide if the effort is worth it.
All the best to you.... and good luck with the baby!!

Cyberguy - I love Rachmaninoff!! Listening to his music is what got me hooked on classical music. Love Vivaldi, too.

I have always wanted to make pottery! I love watching that pottery wheel go around, watching the clay be molded... it's almost hypnotic..! Haven't ever done it, but I have painted unfinished pottery and had it fired afterwords. There is a place here in town that you can do that at... It's a blast! Have fun!!

I played the flute and the oboe. I loved it, but had to stop when my high school required the band to play at football games on Saturday mornings.... that was service day, you know, and bad association to boot. I taught myself piano, but never had lessons so I didn't learn too much. About 10 years ago, I bought a flute and have been playing sporadically. I could have easily gone into music full - time. I love it. GGG

Hi ! I'm new here, so in case you don't know, I'm in the process of exiting after being a JW for 34 years...Used to be a pioneer... My husband's an elder, and has absolutely no intention of leaving. I haven't been to a meeting for a year.
I thought your letter was great. I was just wondering, why do you object to your wife's joining the JWs? (Believe me, I know all the reasons!) Maybe you should sit down and actually list them for yourself, think through each one, and then show them to her. Your wife has been spoon-fed all the WT propaganda, and she believes it. If you can carefully point out your concerns, maybe she will listen.
Personally, I had had doubts for years. After decades in the WT, I finally allowed myself enough freedom of thought to question the things that I found in their teachings that didn't add up to what I read in the bible. But when I happened upon an 'apostate' site that listed all their failed 'Prophecies', with excerpts from their own literature, that was the beginning of the end for me. I wish that someone had been there to point all those things out to me years ago.
Good luck!

Another note: Patterson Educational Center (in Patterson, NY) and the Watchtower Farm are not the same place. They are about 1 1/2 or 2 hours away from each other. On the 'about us' page, it says that they are at WT farms, and then underneath where you can donate or order the books, it says Patterson, NY..... hmmmmmmm

I very nearly lost my 10 year old son. In the space of 24 hours, he went from a healthy kid, to hanging onto life by a thread. He is such a joy in my life, always has been, and now, I look at him every single day and think that he almost wasn't here anymore. And I hug my kids a little bit tighter... Pennycandy - HUGS to you and your family, I hope you get through this difficult time quickly.... I'm thinking about you!! GGG
