LAST NIGHT'S MEMORIAL.........

i tried logging on here last night after i got home, but i kept getting a message saying that there was an error and i couldn't get on.

anyhoo, i walked in the hall last night with my parents, who also roped my inactive brother into going.

For Christians, Holy Week is about remembering Jesus' last days on earth - his arrival in Jerusalem (Palm Sunday), the Last Supper with his disciples, the praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, his betrayal, arrest and trial. His death (Good Friday) and finally it finishes with the celebration of Jesus' resurrection (Easter).

Wow, you mean they actually focus on Jesus instead of meeting attendence? JW's are so caught up in the ritual of a memorial observance (we can't start until after sundown, the bread must be unfermented, wine is needed, only this group can partake) that they have missed the truth in front of their nose: Jesus died so that we may live. JW's put their faith in their works, not in Christ.

The only thing they've accomplished is leading people AWAY from Jesus.

we watched the tv show, 'the amazing race' (the couple i didn't like finally got the boot), ate take out chinese food, and had a relaxing night.

my mom, aunts and inlaws all went, poor souls, we prayed for them.

New to the forum - want to introduce myself

hi my name is lillian and i am posting for my first time.

i was a witness along with my husband and two children for 12 years and gave in my letter of disasociation about a year and a half ago.

i have struggled with the guilt of bringing my family in contact with the witnesses (i have always been a bible searcher) and i am only coming to terms with this recently.. i now consider myself a born again believer in christ jesus and read my bible daily to check and see what is true.

It suddenly hit me that there was a "evil" presence in the hall and that these were not God's people.

The more I come to dwell on this issue, the more I agree with your statement. This has been bugging me for some time. At first I believed that JW's were merely misled, their hearts where in the right place, they were just overzealous.

I'm begining to believe they are led by the devil, they are another of his manifestations to draw us away from Christ. That's a scary thought.

i have a friend who has been inactive as a witness for nearly six years.

yesterday i mentioned that i had wednesday off and wanted to see if they wanted to get something done wednesday, we had been trying to find time for, for awhile now.

out of the blue, they said "i can't, the memorial is wednesday.

The problem with being one of those people who show up once a year for memorial, is that you validate the false beliefs of JW's. You confirm for them that they are right, and you are a pathetic loser who isn't strong enough to follow the right path as set forth by the Governing Body. I've been there and seen it. Trust me, you're a part of conversation after the "ritual" is over. They sit around later that night, mocking and deriding you, while at the same time thumping their chests about how spiritual they are, as evidenced by their Society stats.

I choose not to be a part of that.

I heven't been to a Memorial in 4 years, this will be number 4. I felt guilty about the 1st one, and even received some pressure the last two. My wife, who is totally against JW's now, still feels the need to attend, as does her disfellowshipped brother. I don't get it, we know JW's are a cult, yet some still feel the need to jump through their hoops one time a year.

Well the memorial finished an hour ago in Sydney, where is my wife?

this is the first year i have not attended the memorial ever.

so i am sitting at home watching prison break, oh and surfing the net.

my wife and daughter went, which i was happy about, as now everyone in the hall will notice my absence and know i am an apostate, and was not just d/f for some petty crime.

What do you think of our dry, boring accents JWfacts? My wife and I once vacationed in England, and the looks we would get everytime we spoke where very comical. By the end of the week I was speaking in some hack English accent. We walked into a bookstore on our last day, looking for a copy of the Scarlet Pimpernal......I walked up to the lady behind the counter, and asked for the book in the worst imitation of an English accent possible, not on purpose it just kind of came out that way. The lady was so offended I thought she'd fall off her stool.

Memorial of Jesus' Death

i have failed to find in the bible where it explicitly says that we are to commeorate jesus's death.

can anyone direct me to where it says that, i know the "last" supper was told to be repeated.

but nowhere can i find where it says to commeorate his death.

Wasn't the last supper symbolically saying we should be cannibals? We should drink blood and eat flesh???

Only the blood and flesh of Christ, and it's symbolic, otherwise Jesus would have just hacked off a piece of his arm and poured out some blood.

My question is on the yearly observance. Jesus merely said to "Keep doing this in rememberance of me." He didn't say establish a yearly ritual, as JW's have done. Also, under JW doctrine, Jesus' words do not apply to the Great Crowd since they are not in this Covenant for a Kingdom and Jesus is not their mediator. Why do the Great Crowd even see the need to attend?
