what was once a sin five yrs ago is no longer a sin.
1. Every date they have held up as important, has had it's meaning changed at some point. (1874, 1914, 1925, 1975).
2. Vaccines.
3. Organ Transplants. (Which is a big deal considering how many faithful JW's died to uphold the belief.)
4. This Generation's meaning has been changed.

how many members of the bush administration does it take to change a. light bulb?.
1. one to deny that a light bulb needs to be changed;.
2. one to attack the patriotism of anyone who says the light bulb needs.
It will take at least 5 years for our intelligence services to grow to the level where they can determine who burned out the light bulb.
people have made claims that i am anti-american for expressing dissatisfaction about american foreign policy or dismay at the ills of american socity.. to be honest, i do not think i am anti-american.
i think i am more pro american than many of the people in the country who like to wave flags and buy t-shirts but who seem happy to turn a blind eye when things are not right and happy to see it's ideals sold to the highest bidder.
imo the true patriots are those who are willing to stand up and take the flak for saying "this isn't good enough, we demand better".
I think some of us Americans take offense when Europeans ridicule us for a few reasons. First, you're not American and therefore your opinion matters little to us. Americans find most Europeans to be a tad condesending. We realize that we've only been a country for 200+ years, and you guys have been around for centuries. But in our short history we have accomplished more than you. How many British, or French people have stood on the Moon? If it wasn't for America the Brits and French would all be speaking German right now.
I think that's where most of the animosity in America towards Europe comes from right now. We shed our blood on your shores to stop Hitler. Now that we ask for you guys to return the favor, most of you won't (with exception of the British, God bless em!).
he was a real rebel, he called the religious leaders out, he walked into the temple and actually overturned tables, he exposed their hypocrisy, he hung out with sinners, he didn't buy into the "organization" he basically walked around and talked to whoever whenever.
he never built a chuch, he never collected donations, he just preached what he believed to be the truth in a time when the religious leaders were more concerned with status and tradtitions.
if you look up apostacy in the dictionary the definition is: "renunciation of a religious faith, abandonment of a previous loyalty" it never says you automatically become a devil worshipper or anything scary or evil... just reject a teaching or a loyalty (to an organization.
I prefer to think of Jesus merely being the example to follow, and the Pharasees being the Apostates. That makes it easier to understand that the WTS stands in Apostacy.
i think he would quote people by saying "for just as you have written...".
then he would start with "truly i tell you today...".
and then come out with amazing, profound yet completely vague reference such as "for by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned".
"Why am I limited to 75 posts per day? I have sermons to deliver ..."

i work with about 30 guys who fail to realize that one can actually hold a conversation without swear words and still make sense.
it doesn't happen that way.
the words they use frequently make the f-word look like a polished piece of vocabulary.. now, about 4 months ago, the son of a jw family in good standing applied for a job there.
Do you work in a prison or something?
Honestly though, the type of people you describe are common in virtually any non-college level job. I work around a bunch of electricians (who claim to be the more educated of the tradespeople), and their a bunch of potty mouths too.
Hire him. If he can't handle the real world, maybe the WTS will pay his bills.

Thanks everybody, we got the book file and are downloading it now. Talk about legalistic. I think the WTS has outdone the Pharasees in traditions of men!
tonight i am going for a walk with my dellpod on and listen to some tunes.. come home and watch a movie.. tomorrow, i will finish painting some little wooden animals i bought to put on stakes in the front yard.
then pottery class.. then dinner with friends at a thai restaurant.
then mitch comes home for one night of snuggling.. sunday.
Whiskey and a movie tonight.
3 hour class tommorrow morning, then probably a little exercise.
Sunday, Chiefs game then some homework.
On Monday I'll probably try to squeeze in some flyfishing before class at 5:30
