  "I Would've Never Known God's Name Is Jehovah Unless I Became A JW"

  so says my mom who is seeing that much of the "truth" isn't really all that true but she is stuck on "jehovah" being god's name and how only the witnesses make known his name.

  what would you say in response?

  I do a lot of work in a local Catholic hospital, St. John's. In every hallway there is a picture with a biblical quote on it. The entrance to the ER has one with a scripture that includes "Yahweh" in it. JW's do not have a patent on God's name, they only claim to. There so consumed with that one little point, i.e. God's name, that they have missed the pure essence of Christianity, that sense of faith, hope, love, and trust that the majority of Christendom seems to have.

  As a child growing up on the inside, I believed that every day of my life. Working on quick builds, and at conventions seened to solidify this view. Everyone seemed so loving and accepting of me. Then as I turned 18 and didn't fully step up to the spiritual plate I began to see it all change. The elders went from encouraging to judgmental and wary of me. That was when I got my first inkling that all was not as it seemed.

  Having had a step mother who developed this disease, well it hits close to home..

  My grandfather died of the disease, I feel your pain. I saw this article earlier, and it filled me with joy. To think that someday there might be a medical treatment for this terrible disease, well that almost makes me cry.

  I wish they had had it 10 years ago.

  a previous generation was told that god lived in pleiedes, a galaxy not too far away.. this current generation is being told in great earnest this week that their god lives in brooklyn!!

  i want you to know that you have destroyed a family because of your lies about jehovah and his organization.

  a family member went apostate and has turned his back on jehovah.

  Did he turn his back on Jehovah, or on an earthly, man-made organization? It's funny how JW's equate the two as if they're interchangable terms. The fact that you have such a fear of internet sites shows that you have bought into the propaganda of the WTS. Anytime someone tries to interrupt the free flow of information (like the WTS does with the internet), something is wrong.

  Of course nothing we say here will change your mind.

  I'm sorry for your pain, but ask yourself this....Who created the situation? Your family member or you? The answer is you. It is JW's who choose to shun their own family, not the individual family members who can no longer live a lie.

  The Holidays.

  well, this thanksgiving was the first one my wife and i officially celebrated.

  the grand jw tradition of eating turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie on thanksgiving day and excusing it with a "well turkey's cheap this time of year", is one we used to practice.

  this year however it was official.. it makes me wonder about other holidays, and the bs the wts uses to forbid them.. any thoughts?

  back in 1990, i brought my aunt to the district assembly at the olympic stadium in montreal.

  i told her to sit with us, but she didn't want to.

  she wanted to sit with a sister her age in another part of the stadium.
