i met a girl about a year and a half ago and we became really good platonic friends.
she was bright, cute and always put a smile on my face with her lovely sense of humour, just a great girl.
then one day with tears in her eyes she told me she had to leave but wouldn't tell me why.

I've lost a number of platonic male friends I've met online, but they usually disappear without saying a word. I suspect they develop a romantic interest and somehow feel they can't continue our friendship, but they've never explained or said 'goodbye', so I don't know for sure.
in our congregation, we had a theocratic ministry school overseer make the sisters stand while giving their talks because he would counsel them on a point of counsel having to do with speaking to the "householder".
(i forget that exact point of counsel) so the sisters knew they had to follow this imbecile's quirks or get a "w".
another rule that was eventually abandoned too, was that only elders and ministerial servants could offer prayer at the kingdom hall......any rules that you had to deal with??

for several years there has been available a pay attention to yourselves and to the flock book in pdf and html format.
this book has proven to be extremely valuable in exposing the morally questionable activities of the watchtower society.
now we have a new version that is even more valuable because it contains the hand-written notes of a presiding overseer, some notes as recent as late 2005. these notes are frequently dictated to elders by a circuit overseer or district overseer in order to avoid liability (the wts can deny every giving such instructions).
What is the reasoning that keeping this "Flock" book secret, available only to elders, will protect against apostacy?
When I was "in", I asked my father and my uncle, both elders, why no one but elders could see the book. I never got a decent answer, only that the rest of us 'don't need to know' what's in it. Seems paranoid...
is there any such thing as a church or group that gathers together to study the bible and share information without ramming it down everyone's throad and trying to disfellowship anyone who doesn't agree?.
i'd love to eventually attend a bible study group where an exchange of ideas can be had without everyone getting offended or defensive.

I happened to fall into a liberal Bible Student group - it's nice when you can find one, but it can be a crap-shoot.

i know myself, although i have not been disrespectful to anyone and have tried to enter conversations explaining my beliefs only, not to put anyone elses beliefs down, have been called self righteous, condescending, a hypocrite and tiresome today.. i had a similiar problem at another site and chose to leave because it was not encouraging.. come on everyone, lets listen to reason here.
