This was one of a number of tracks on an entire CD of re-done songs from the songbook. There were duets, a cappella numbers - it was leaps and bounds above the awful CD the Org put out years ago. People were copying and giving out CDs like crazy. It must have started in '04, as the quote from the KM in '05 most likely is in reference to the CD of "remakes".
So much control - the Org couldn't even stand it when the Witnesses wanted to have fun "singing praises to Jehovah."
BTW - I'm 29 and I was weaned on the likes of Ashford & Simpson - love it, love it, love it! "You gotta stay free..."

Anything that might tickle the fancy of a bibliophile would work for me.
I'm exploring mysticism, so anything to encourage me along my spiritual journey would be nice as well.
I'm allergic to fragrances, so scented candles or scented lotions/soaps/etc. would make me ill.
I feel a bit selfish listing stuff I want Thank you, Secret Santa... and you, Angharad !

I can't understand why the Witnesses think that the entire World is evil
by JH inin their black and white world, the jw's think that everything that isn't jw is evil.. every day, i visit my dad at a nursing home, a place where dying people go, and i see so many good people, many volunteers, helping out the sick and dying.
witnesses may preach and know their bible better than the average person.
but i prefer people who don't know their bible as well, but have a heart and donate to the poor or help the sick and have compassion.. maybe one day when the average age of witnesses will be higher, maybe they will start to understand that there is more than preaching.

You must convince yourself the world is evil if you are to have any hope of justifying:
- the destruction of innocent children and animals in the environmental ravages of a world-wide flood
- instructions from "God" to kill men, women, seniors, and babies so as to wipe out entire cities and take them over as your "promised land"
- the deaths of billions at the "end of this system of things"
I know I had to.
There's no other way to love, obey, and praise a "God" who could do these things unless you convince yourself it's right and necessary. There's no other way to accept the Bible as the literal, perfect, complete, infallible "Word of God" unless you can rationalize these things. Hence, the world is a hopelessly evil, corrupt, and damaged place which must be destroyed and rebuilt from scratch - with the help of a few select "chosen" who also think it's a great idea, of course.
It just so happens that this attitude is quite convenient for the "upper management" of the Org in keeping the R & F in line.

by BluesBrother in.this "new world scene " is from p 190 of the "bible teach " book dated 2005.. it is just a joke.

JW teenage pregnancies...............did you know of any ?
by vitty ini was in the borg for 20 of my adult years and i must say that in all that time i only knew of one sister who got pregnant before she was married.
she was given a public reproof and was never treated badly.. considering a lot of the teenagers did most things they shouldnt have and many did get reproved for immorality, i am surprised that many didnt get pregnant.
especially as they would of likely not have been taking contraception.. was this common in you kh or area?.

I knew of quite a few, including some in the various congregations in our shared Hall and in JW families close to my own.
It made my parents feel the need to create a new rule: Get pregnant once, we'll help you. Get pregnant twice, you're outta here!

Agnostic/Atheist/Religion
by Free ini feel that since i have lost all faith in the society, i feel myself drifting further and further into more agnosticism / atheistic thinking.i am finding it harder every day to believe in a god or holy scripture.
i actually feel more at peace now not feeling like someone is watching me.
religion now rings a wicked song in my head that sings of control, power, money, greed, and endless seas of falsehood.

Free - I've experienced the same. For me, realizing I didn't need anyone else's "revelation" to create an understanding of God/Spirit/Divinity has been comforting and led to personal progress. I don't, however, believe everyone must have a structured spirituality to find peace, happiness, wisdom, and morality.
I wish you the best in your journey.

New study calls "Jehovah's protective hygiene laws" into serious question
by under_believer inanybody remember this favorite witness concept?
the mosaic laws were basically perfect, the theory goes.
one evidence of this perfection was the fact that the hygenic requirements harmonize with current science, were obviously better than what everyone else at the time was practicing, and resulted in great health benefits for the israelites.

To accept an "invitation" to a JC is to acknowledge they have power over you and that you feel some obligation towards them.
My sentiments exactly.
I would not go.
I never trusted them with my life or my spirituality when I was in the Org.
I owe them nothing.
