If it's marked for the WWW, they can use any of the "leftovers" any way they like. Specifically earmarking and properly accounting for funds would require taking people away from the WWW and creating a proper committee to handle disaster relief issues for as long as there are funds/donations specifically intended for those events. With this current set-up, once they determine that the crisis has "passed", they're free to divert the cash to other things. I wonder if noting on the checks what the money is supposed to be for would obligate them legally to be accountable to donors.

WTBTS: Do Not Mark Donations For Relief Efforts - Mark World Wide Work
by Honesty ini have just talked with the wtbts service department at 718-560-5000.. you can contribute for hurricane katrina relief efforts through your local kingdom hall and put your donation in the contribution box marked for the world wide work.
you may also send donations directly to the branch office... to the brooklyn address.
donations should be marked for the world wide work and not specificically reserved for relief efforts.

There are two Mormons in front of my door right now, and I'm wearing only a T-shirt (no bottom).
For a second I thought of opening the door and engaging them in a Bible-based discussion...
Hilarious, Leolaia. I almost wish you did it, too. I'm also glad I didn't attempt to go to Bethel as I'd planned. Something told me that I'd be horribly unprepared for the real world if I did, that I needed to reassure myself that I could support myself and that if I went, I'd be running away from finding out what it really meant to be an adult.

I read last night that dwarf hamsters have a tendency to revert after they've been tamed if they don't get a lot of interaction - something to do with the short amount of time during which they've been domesticated. So far, the girls haven't tried to kill each other and seem to occassionally groom each other. I've got a couple of ideas to try out on Cujo before I chuck her off the balcony. (No, I wouldn't actually do that - it wouldn't work anyway because she'd have a deathgrip on my finger.)
If I succeed in taming the shrew, you guys will be the first to hear the momentous news!

Apparently, I've lost mine. Ever since I "came into my own", so to speak, I've been accused of being disrespectful when I'm very consciously trying to be calmly and respectfully assertive. I'm also no longer interested in lulling people into a false sense of security, so that may have something to do with it as well.

What am I so scared of?
by katiekitten inive thought about posting this for a good few weeks, and finally decided to now the initial upset and outrage have calmed down in me.
hopefully i will be more objective in my post, and more robust to take some constructive critisism.. i have been divorced 7 years, since my daughter was 1.
50% of the blame was mine, definately.

I used to get a very similar reaction around people. It most often occured when I feared the other person was capable of witholding something from me that I needed or deeply wanted. This was not limited to physical things; when someone was emotionally distant or unavailable, I had problems because I knew they would not attempt to understand my perspective and would likely ignore/invalidate my feelings and my right to those feelings. I looked to certain individuals to confirm the legitimacy of my emotions instead of simply accepting myself and my feelings as they are. In other words, I was giving away my power to these particular people. It took years to realize what I was doing. I also had an underlying fear that people in general weren't safe and would hurt me without warning.

OK, so when I get a little down, I have a tendency to purchase animals. The difficulties with my family and my leaving the Org have been weighing on me. Yesterday, I purchased two blonde dwarf hamsters, both female.
The one is a sweetheart. She's a little uncomfortable, as expected, but she's coming around. She knaws on me a little, but doesn't bite. She almost crawled completely into my hand just now.
The other wants blood. I thought she was nippy at the store because we woke her up, but she's done nothing but wail on me ever since. Even if I'm holding a food nugget between her and me, she'll use the nugget to climb onto my finger and try to take a piece out of me. I've learned that the skin on my dominant hand is a lot tougher than that on my other hand.
Ideas on taming the murderous rodent I've affectionately dubbed "Cujo"?
