  Discussion with my parents about WTS

  after reading for a few months this is my first post here.

  i was raised a jehovah's witness by my parents who became jw's in the late '70s from field service.

  i'm still a jw but doing a lot of researching on the history of the wts.

  GBSJG - they have to hold on to the 607 doctrine because that's how they justify the 1914 doctrine. One simple question - how do we know Jesus was invisibly enthroned in 1914?

  From the article: "They can also publish full texts for free provided they cite Vatican copyright, it says, but if a text is published separately, as Tornielli did in a book, payment is due."

  It's when someone decides to publish the Pope's writings as a book, for instance, that payment will be due.

  How greedy is "greedy"?

  at 1 corinthians 5:11 christians are commanded "not to keep company" and "not to eat" with a fellow believer who is "covetous" ( greedy - nwt ).

  what signs of greediness in a fellow believer would make a christian obey this nt command and begin to "not keep company" and 'not eat' with his or her greedy, fellow christian?

  self interest is not greed. we have to have a certain amount of it to survive and thrive, but when we let this get out of control and continue to want more and more beyond what we need, that is greed.

  I can agree with that. But I don't think greed is a bad thing. It makes the world go 'round.

  i really hate the secrecy in jw's ...i felt like the low man on the totem pole even though i was a pioneer.

  the big important men decide things behind closed doors and you can't know anything.

  i can understand why someone said it was a pediphile's paradise, or anyone's who done really bad things.

  I really hate the secrecy in JW's ...I felt like the low man on the totem pole even though I was a pioneer. ; The Big Important Men ;decide things behind closed doors and you can't know anything. ; I can understand why someone said it was a pediphile's paradise, or anyone's who done really bad things. ; Everyone sits at the meeting pretending to be perfect. ; Hated that. ; Then they tell you to shun someone and you're not allowed to know or ask what they even did... ; But then I'm only a woman.....

  You just outlined one of the basic definitions of "cult."
