interesting experience....
by hallowedbethyname inhello all.. just wanted to pass along an experience that i had about a month or so ago.
i was invited to a jw wedding of a friend of mine.. also invited was a 'marked' brother who is a very close friend of the bride.
he was recently marked after the invitations were sent out, so he came along with his 'worldly girlfriend'.. anyways, long story short, about 10 upstanding jw's decided to make a stink just before the bride and groom were to enter the reception hall to do their first dance.

Bravo Abaddon.
I'm an atheist and I believe in the moral code put forth by the idea of natural rights. In many ways, I think a secular view of natural rights is superior to the Christian view because those rights are absolute and apply equally to everyone. In short, my view is that it is immoral to infringe on anyone else's right to life, liberty, and property and that initiation of force is the root of moral corruption.
The Christian view is that god promulgates what is right and what is wrong and in fact, he can change his mind.
Christianity's god decides that it is immoral to kill, yet he engaged in killing quite a few times. God has told us not to steal, but he stole everything from Job. One would expect those who promulgate laws to abide by those laws themselves.

The church I used to belong to would raise money before doing any work. The last fund drive was for several million dollars to add on to the school and build a new family center. Borrowing doesn't seem like a very good strategy, especially for that low amount of money.

Would a Father really destroy His children for disobeying and arrogance?
by Judas I. ineven go so far as to torment them forever?
how could that ever be justified?.
would that be also admitting failure as a father by resorting to that?.

Not only that, but he will destroy you if you don't worship him. Sounds like a bit of a narcissist to me.

Depends if you want to pay or not :)
But seriously - getting lucky isn't too tough in vegas - just hang out at some clubs and wait for the alcohol to take affect. Usually around 2 or 3am is the getting lucky time. But of course, there is more to it than that - assuming you look ok and can dress well, you'll probably do ok.

Bethel Downsizing - Management Discussions
by core in.
the spin on downsizing is apparently "go out into the field" yet when the gb initially considered this it must have been presented as a practical problem - too much surplus hr capacity/ too expensive to maintain - or whatever and yet they turned it into a positive matter by stressing the return to the field - all those in such discussions are clearly able to deceive themselves as much as they try and deceive the "flock" - what do you think - did a discussion on a practical problem have to have a positive outcome and how did they twist their minds so as to sell it as such - for years they begged people to stay in bethel service (make it your home for life) and now they cast them out into the world with the thin veneer of "speedin g up the preaching work .. etc".
all those at the top must have been involved in turning this huge embarrasment (jehovah will provide etc) into a positive spin - they should try out for a marketing award "downsizing - the only way to grow!

There were probably a variety of issues that contributed to the decision -
1) Improved technology makes quite a number of jobs irrelevant and/or more efficient
2) Lower circulation of publications
3) Lower revenue
These are conjecture on my part because I have no idea, but in my own experience with downsizing my own department, it's not usually one single issue.

Go for it Dinah! I just finished my degree after five years of evening classes because I work full time. The night classes were great because most other students were working full time. They ranged in age from 18 to in their 40's. The amount of life experience of part-time students is also a great addition to the classes - we often drew on several students' experiences. Do it... you won't regret it!

Do they respect gay rights?
by greendawn ini am not gay and never have been one, but do you think that your local society treats gays with respect or that it has no tolerence for such a sexually different and in the thought of many deviant minority?
.
i personally don't approve of their activities but i can understand that they are genetically predisposed in that way and can't change.

That's hogwash, it is a myth that no research has ever proven. You can be predisposed by your upbringing but that doesn't mean people can't change.
Did you choose to be straight (assuming you are striaght)?
