  Has Jehovah forgiven the WTBS for its errors and moved on?

  since our god is a merciful god, can we assume by now that the gb has asked jehovah for forgiveness of its mess, miss calculations, the un thing and so forth and he's forgiven them?

  What is repentance?

  If one is repentant they will attempt to the best to there ability to make up for their sins. If it was illegal, they should turn themselfs in to the authorities, if they injured someone they should do everything possible to correct what they injured. If nothing can be done they can at least publically admit their sins to their brothers/sisters and state how going foward they will be preventing the sin from happening again. Since the WTBS has not done any of the things, they cannot be repentant. Since they don't feel they need to show repentence for the people they have damaged, killed etc, they don't follow the bible. This makes them just another corrupt corporate system.

  If you go to meetings in the wealthier areas, you will see some way over the top cars. I went to Boca Raton for a business meeting and attended the hall there. I pulled up in my ford rental and parked between a whole slew of BMW's, Lexus's, Mercedes, you name it. And to think I had an Elder make a snide remark to me about the money I must be making. I have three bedroom condo that I bought a total disaster and I drive a 5 year old honda. Go Figure. This Elder had a house, two cars(even though him and wife were retired) and a boat.

  Going to church

  i am definatly not a jw anymore.

  but what am i. my husband wants to find a church home, but everytime he talks about it the hair on the back of my neck stands up.

  i would rather have my teeth drilled.

  I would look into other unitarian groups. You will probably agree most with their doctrines. I would say the most mainstream in the Unitarian Universalists. There are quite a few others(Laymans, Bible Students, Philadelphians). Many quakers have silent worship. I have never been to a Quaker meeting but I know they are very active and charity and if they are silent seems pretty easy to agree.

  I went with the unofficial standard Catholic formula ($5.00 per family member per week) . Slip the priest(oh sorry) throw in a little extra for special occasion. I think this was so ingrained in my head it just carried over.

  Desperate for Numbers!

  i met someone earlier this week whose ex-spouse is a jw - part of a fairly prominent jw family in this area.

  although never baptized, this person studied and went to meetings for about 4 years.

  this person even disclosed that they had progressed to the point of being an unbaptized publisher.

  Actually the women I studied with told me this story

  Sister Y was out in service with Sister X. They get to the door and Sister X says to the householder. This is Sister Y and She has a message for you. Sister Y was caught totally off guard.

  I only went out a couple times but no one was home and we didn't even leave anything in the door for them to read. I felt like a jump hoops and was totally exhausted to drive around in a car and do nothing.

  All I can say is wow. If I had ever heard this before studying with witnesses, I would have never studied. The Elder sounds like a big arrogant creep. He should reread how an Elder is suppose to care for his flock. This should be spread everywhere.

  Blood matters - unbelieving spouse

  i am well aware of the jw attitude to blood transfusions - one would have to be deaf dumb blind and stupid to have missed it.

  where i am coming from relates to my personal situation as a rational being and not one of the chosen.

  You may also want to consider assigning your medical power over to someone else or have you wishes drafted by a lawyer. I know of a case of a women, I'll call her Betty. Betty was

  studying with a JW women. Betty had not even stepped foot in a Kingdom Hall, she only had weekly studies in her home. Betty was going in for surgery. The JW she was studying with tried to convince

  Betty that she should sign her medical power of attorney over to the JW instead of her Mother so that she would not receive a blood transplant. Now I think even from the societies point of

  view that this women over stepped her boundaries but I have seen JW's do very bizarre things and when things don't turn out how they planned, they deny deny deny

  Update on the JW aunt melodrama

  not sure if she has actually sent that letter to the wts yet, but so far there has not been a response.

  i wonder if they will respond at all, after all it's easy to say it got lost in the mail or something, much harder to make such excuses over the phone.

  You can find bibles in many dollar stores and almost version in every used bookstore. So anywhere from $1.00 to $3.00 will get you another translation.

  What is now the most accurate Bible to buy??

  now that i've read ray franz's part about how his uncle and others with little actual greek or hebrew training translated the bible into the nwt, i've been interested in finding the best bible out there is correctly translated by people who know what the hell they are talking about.

  i've also been looking at other religions lately, ones that are "somewhat" close to the jw's teachings to an extent, and have been interested in seventh day adventists.

  I would say choose whichever translation you find comfortable to read (NAS or NIV flow nicely) then get a literal bible like Youngs and a concordance. You can then correct with pen in the copy you are comfortable with. They also make side by side Bibles with multiple version in it.
