I have a blackberry curve. I love it. I can hook it up to my laptop and use it as a WiFi hotspot. I have an unlimited data plan and it doesn't cost anything extra to do that. Plus I love the color. Mine is red. It's hot!!!

The Official What happened at the Memorial thread
by truthseeker ini thought rather than everyone start their own topic relating their experience of attending the memorial, we keep it simple and have just one thread.
if anything, it's saves bandwidth.. i will be going to the memorial tonight and will post my experiences afterwards.. all the other memorials i attended, i was an active jw, so this will be my first experience as a submarine witness.
it's weird being on the other side so to speak.

Should Towns Have The Right To Curfew Teens From 11p.m. to 5a.m.?
by minimus inin one massachusetts city, there's a teen curfew fromm11 to 5. actually, 9 other communities have this curfew in the state.. some are saying such a curfew is unconstitutional.. what's your view?
if a group of kids took a train into boston, for example, and went to a ballgame, should they be penalized if they are returning home between those hours?.

They have a curfew here in the town I live in. It keeps teens off the street at night when they are likely to be up to no good. The police will stop suspected teens and make them produce ID. One of the guy's I worked with was called late on night when his daughter was caught out after curfew. He was made to go pick her up and she was given a court date for violating curfew. Teens in my town know better than to be caught walking the streets late at night. They call cabs instead. I am a cab driver so I know.

Do the JW's actualy think they have the truth?
by iknowall558 indo the dubs think they have the truth answer:yes.
the jw's honestly think they have the truth but we all know they dont because they have several doctrinal errors.
they dont think about it logicaly, if they had the truth wouldn't god help others become witnesses yes,and that means that the jw numbers would go up but they actualy go down.and not to mention all the ''end of the world dates'' that they have proficied.. .

What happens if you lose your home US style?
by ThomasCovenant ini'm not sure if i heard correctly on a bbc radio program this week but someone may have said that in the u.s. if you go behind on your mortgage payments and you simply hand in the keys and give up the home that's it.
in the u.k. if you do, i believe you are still liable for the shortfall owing.. e.g.
mortgage owing = 100,000. house repossessed and sold by bank for 60,000. the bank still pursue you for the 40,000 shortfall.. is this the same in the u.s.?.

My dad lost his home last summer. Then his truck. He declared bankruptcy and is living in a rental. This was the house I grew up in. Good news is in a few years he may be able to buy another house. The old house was a white elephant with so much wrong with it I can't even begin to tell you. He would have never been able to sell that house. Believe me it was really bad.

As a JW youth, were you rejected by your peers and left out of social activities?
by truthseeker ini'd be interested to know your experiences if this applies to you.. i was in touch with an old friend and we got to talking about why it is that jws don't reach out to their inactive friends.. this friend commented that "the reason why no one has reached out to you is because most jws are required to display friendship, not because they like you but because they are told to.".
in my old congregation, there were many "young ones"; dubs between the ages of 15 and 29. a couple of them showed interest in me but it never lasted, usually because others in the congregation would, in so many words, tell them i was bad association.. i did not fit in with the congregation i grew up in - and my peers let me know that.
they ignored me as often as they could at the kingdom hall.

I wanted to add I was never personally invited to any parties or gatherings. My family was but even wedding invitations came in my parents name when I was still living at home and I was the "and family" part. Congregation picnics were a normal thing around here and everyone was invited. I went to those. Sleep overs and youth parties I wasn't invited to. I can remember one that I went to that my best friend had. Other than that I never went to parties unless my family had them or a relative had them. I did hang out with a group of people who went to a bar and sang karaoke on Friday nights but that was because my friend always asked me. Not because anyone really wanted me. Every summer my family aunts and uncles and cousins went to Cedar Point. It became a congregation thing and everyone went but if it wasn't for my family arranging it every year I would not have been invited. I remember many many times I heard of parties and things that people did where I and my family weren't invited.
I also remember one time my mom cornered a couple of girls my age and asked them why they didn't want to hang out with me. God the was embarrassing. I wished the floor would open up and swallow me. I could never look thse girls in the face again.

How Have YOU Changed Since Leaving The Witnesses?
by minimus inare you that much different now?.
-
noni1974
In some ways I'm more open. I'm more likely to start a conversation with strangers. I'm not judgmental about people who are different than me. I don't judge myself as harshly as I used to. I know I'm a good person and I only have to live up too my own standards. I'm happier. I used to hate myself and wished I was never born or dead. I don't have the self hate anymore and I don't wish I was dead anymore.
In some ways I'm more closed off. I don't trust people most of the time. When I meet new people I hold parts of myself back. I have abandonment issues and I'm often convinced I'll die alone with no one to care that I'm gone. I have a hard time believing people when they say they like me or or love me. I very rarely make the first move in any kind of relationship. I'm a born loner who likes people but doesn't trust that they are genuine. I'm harder on the outside but a huge softy inside with trust issuse so I don't show much emotion or attachment easy. I don't cry. Some of this stuff is from my JW issues and new since I left. Some is not.
