One is a highly respected teacher, who saw a cigar shaped object whilst out walking her dog,...
I hope she was considerate enough to remove this cigar shaped object lest someone step into it.

It proves that there is someone operating something that doesn't correspond to any current technology.
You reached this conclusion from THAT experience? You hear a noise (however loud) and see light (however bright), and from this you can extrapolate that;
a) it is a vehicle
b) it had pilots at the control
c) it did not correspond to any current technologyHowever, even you said that it "could" be a blimp with huge speakers. Sure that sounds silly, but it is a lot more beleivable than the alternative you propose.

Bethel Doctor--Is it me, or was this odd??
by Sherri ini was at bethel with my now ex-husband in early 1982. at that time, they did a tb test as part of the physical when you started.
mine came out positive for exposure (though i did not and have never had tb), probably because i had worked as a receptionist in a hospital x-ray department.. the weird bit is that the bethel doctor insisted on giving me a gynacological exam.
as i was only 22 at the time, and butt-stupid, i went ahead and let him.

I had a similar experience recently in a department store. The salesman kept measuring my waist and inseam, and spending what I thought to be far too much time with his tape measure pressed near my genitalia. He assured me that an accurate measurement was important, but still, I was not measured this carefully any other time that I bought a toaster.

A simple question for serious JW's
by zerubberballs ina simple question for serious jw's:.
according to this sunday's newspaper suppliment a common snail travels at 24 inches/hour (60cm/hr).
i've got snails in my garden and i've just crunched some math on my super scientific pocket calculator.

Reminds me of a joke.
This turtle was mugged by two snails. The police arrived, and asked the turtle if he got a look at the assailants. "I don't know," he said, "It all happened so fast."

Blood Show on Discovery Channel
by ChuckD indid anyone happen to catch the show on the cable tv discovery health channel this past weekend about blood?
i tuned in mid-way through it, just in time to see them covering bloodless surgery planned for a jw woman.
the patient was a very heavy, diabetic woman who needed heart surgery.. what i found interesting was that the patient refered to herself as a "jehovah witness" (sic) while the narrator of the program used the correct pronounciation.

Unlike you, perhaps, I think that someone should at least know the correct NAME of the organization if they are willing to put their life at risk for it.

Tina, I am very sorry to say that my Tivo seems to have has erased the program to make room for some other stuff. I should have programmed it to keep it until I manually deleted it. The name of the program was "Cure or Kill?" or something like that. I'll keep me eye out for a rebroadcast, and get the whole program on tape if it comes around again.
Concerning NYT's comment, when I was a Witness, I found it annoying when people did not pronounce the name of the organization correctly. Don't you? I find that people who use the phrase "Jehovah Witness" usually don't know too much about them, and this phrase serves as a bit of a shibboleth.
Do you not find it odd that a Witness who was willing to subject themselves to such a risky procedure on the basis of their faith would be so ill-informed about the organization that they could not even say the name right?

I think I still have this segment of the show on my Tivo machine, in case anyone wants me to put it on tape for them.

A Voice for SJ
by radar ini have been watching john edwards and his tv programme: crossing over.
this man is evidently very sincere in his belief that those that have "passed over" to the other side(spirit life) desire to speak to the "living" who have been left grieving for their loved ones.. this man has demonstrated many times, a remarable ability in revealing knowledge of events and relationships peculiar only to those people he speaks with.. he says he recieves these messages in various forms.. .
i am wondering what sjs take on this is, seeing she claims similar experiences?.

I think a far more likely explanation for the kind of performances that John Edward does can be seen at;
