  first time ever a 6th seed team has won the first two games of the playoffs.

  Did you know of any JW elders or JW pioneers that were "racist"?

  i know this might sound like a question from "la-la" land but as a black ex-jws most of the white jw's that i did have contact with were really nice.

  i was talking to a hispanic ex-jws the other day and he was telling me of some of the racist experiences he had as a jw.

  i did not contradict him but i never experienced racism from caucasian jw's.

  Are there Witnesses that are racists? Most likely. Is there a large number of Witnesses that are racists? Not in my experience.
  
  Disfellowshipped for being racist, tough call would not be in keeping with "Loving your neighbor." I could see being talked to about it though.

  Should Jehovers Witnesses use Heinz 57 products?

  the other night i was listening to npr on the radio while driving home and i heard a very interesting piece of information... the "57" in the heinz 57 brand came from occult sources!

  the container says "heinz 57 varieties" but the number was never meant to literally mean they had 57 varieties of products, instead the numbers 5 and 7 have occult meaning.. i looked around on the internet and found these articles:.

  Strange reasoning. Heinz' biographer says it "occult reasons". Nothing to attribute it to H.J. Heinz himself.

  That wasn't the impression I got in 1983. I thought it was a great place. The pits are the outdoor stadiums, Veteran's, Three Rivers, and Riverfront come to mind

  you do not believe that you have salvation, you have no guaranty of that, so you are not saved and never be!

  JW's and Charity

  today i was chatting with one of the jehovah witness men from work.

  he is like a big guy in the hall who can marry other jehovah's.

  anyhow i am wondering if i should ask him if the people at the hall give to the homeless or have an outreach program for the poor.

  Dave, if you would have asked me that question I would have pointed you to Matthew 6:1-4.

  "6 "Take good care not to practice YOUR righteousness in front of men in order to be observed by them; otherwise YOU will have no reward with YOUR Father who is in the heavens. 2 Hence when you go making gifts of mercy, do not blow a trumpet ahead of you, just as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be glorified by men. Truly I say to YOU, They are having their reward in full. 3 But you, when making gifts of mercy, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, 4 that your gifts of mercy may be in secret; then your Father who is looking on in secret will repay you."

  That is the ONLY reply to your question. I don't ask others whether they support a given charity or not. It's none of my business.

  Do JWs take Genesis literally?

  as i grew up as a jw it seemed that we accepted genesis was a literal account with the only question being how long a creative day was.

  for the longest time, as best as i can recall, a creative day was considered a thousand years long, based on the ole "a thousand years is as a day to jehovah" rule.. somewhere though, it seems that there was some waffling on how long a creative day was.

  especially since science was showing that the earth was millions of years old.. since i've faded i wonder, do jws today consider genesis as a literal account of how things were created, even if they can't explain the exact length of a creative day?.

  As written there is nothing in Genesis to make me think that a literal 24 hour day is being spoken of. The physical evidence would rule out both a literal 24 hour 'day' and a mere 1000 year 'day'.

  Just remember what Abraham Lincoln is credited with saying while in a hotel lobby with a huge fireplace. He was supposedly asked what hell was like and he replied " I imagine it's a lot like this with all the lawyers closest to the fire"

  The above, from the Marion Webster Dictionary, does NOT require one to be inspired. It is in this sense that "prophet" is used. Actually, from the very beginning C.T. Russell publicly declared that the Watchtower magazine was NOT inspired.

  my internal one is giving me probs.

  still under warranty - but i discovered that dealing with the manufacturer is a massive pain in the a$$.

  i spent hours on the phone with people that speak indian as thier main tongue.
