I think it's one of the funniest most ridicules arguments I have ever heard people engage in.
What was the argument that you've heard people engage in? That God is female? I certainly don't feel God is female.
If you believe that God created us and your basing that on what you have learned from the Bible then we were created in Gods IMAGE.
I do believe in God and I do believe that we have attributes of our creator.
Since Jesus call's God his Father then that is just an expression for us dummies on earth to identify with. It doesn't mean God is actually a BOY GOD. God is not a human Boy or Girl.
Agreed - Jesus only called God "Father" so that his listeners would have something to identify with.
Since he created Adam first and Adam is the FATHER of His children then it only makes sense that we would refer to God our creator as Father not Mother.
OK, there you lost me. Just because God supposedly created Adam first then it makes sense that we should call God "Father"?
If God is essentially both male and female, being complete and not "dual", but God decided to make the sexes seperate for some strange reason, then whose to say that the male aspect of God is important enough to warrant calling "him" Father and not Mother?
Actually, I don't really care. I'm not arguing. I call God father sometimes and mother sometimes, but to be honest I don't pray much other than the occasional "thank you for my life" feelings.
I don't think the creator is either sex. To me it seems God must have all aspects. I just get a kick out of people who really do think our creator is male.
The male aspects of God are those that are highlighted most in the Bible, to the point that many people really think of God as male in mind and temperment, if not genitilia.
I get just as much a kick out of people not questioning the reasons for their beliefs, all the way down to the base of their beliefs (like the bible) as you do from people referring to God as Goddess or Mother.
