The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.

Jonathan Drake, I meant that god allowed christians he was contacted with to misinterpret it because they are humans. What i am really saying is that no man who was not communicating with god directly would be able to change the scriptures which is what a lot of people would have us believe. How do we know they used the moon and sun to assert the earth was a sphere. They could not see the earth from a far. it was really the bible that let people know that information. If you really think about it, it all makes sense that god would give them that info. and since humans have got away from god since then, its logical that they would create lies about the bible to claim its false. The truth of the bible is obvious to anyone willing to fairly investigate it. it is uniquely self-consistent and extraordinarily authentic. It has changed the lives of millions of people who have placed their faith in Christ. it has been confirmed countless times by archaeology and other sciences. it possesses divine insight into the nature of the universe and has made correct predictions about distant future events with perfect accuracy. when christians read the Bible, we cannot help but recognize the voice of their creator. the proof of the bible is that unless its truth is presupposed, we couldn’t prove anything at all. -

The Bible Gods Word or Mans
by azor ini remember studying this book years ago and how it impacted my belief system.
i no longer believe the bible is god's word.
however i do have a couple of lingering questions on this subject.

Very true that the bible started all the beliefs about god. it makes sense that it would because it is the word of god. -

What keeps me away from the JWs religion!
by Wonderment inthere are a few things that have kept me away from the jws organizaction.
these are the most prominent.. 1. jesus has been pushed aside, and replaced by the governing body.
wrong!!!!!!.

what gripes me is that they over emphasize showing up to the meeting more than god, the bible, and especially jesus. the loyalty is more focused on the organization and the governing body. without that knowledge you provided, a person can be easily snared by them. we need to get the information that they are a cult out more to the general public. -

How do you feel about religion as a whole?
by FatherFirst init just seems to me religion in general primarily makes truly bad people worse, not genuinly good people better; and in many cases has even made good people do bad things in the name of their religion.
just curious, a personal poll if you will.
what are you guys' current views on religion as a whole?

all religions are not a snare like the jehovah's witnesses. I believe most religions who help the needy in God's name are what society needs. We need more of those faithful religions and not the ones just begging for cold cash. -

Jonathan drake the bible's information was entrusted into the bible writers. The thing is that God allowed them to misinterpret the bibles message slightly while still keeping the original message that humans need the Lord. The thing that many people just cannot see is the historical references from the bible such as the circle of the earth. if any human we're to change the bible and add the earth was round it had to have happened in the late fifteenth century to the late eighteenth century or even now. that was when mankind learned the earth was round. But here's the thing. those dead sea scrolls, which no one edited or changed was found in the 20th century and contains the same text as the Hebrew bible. So no man could change it because it's sacred text. If the scrolls which were not changed ever and written in b.c. had said the earth was round than the prophets must have gotten the message from God. I hope you understand the true lord. our father god. -

Finkelstein aka the fink, that is your assumption. the bible was entrusted by the lord and all the stories are genuine. It is not a production of ignorance. They just did not know the stuff we know now. God would have told them all that if he wanted to but he wanted humans to learn for themselves

but why is it stupid and won't work? the practical's of the organization should be able to understand given if they are so doctrine engaged. there has to be some way they can think beyond the religion without going against themselves. To figure out a better way than siding with them like you did is very investing. You should not side with them because when you do, you are just letting them control you and eventually you will be a baptized brother wondering why you did in the first place. Blood is not the issue here, its seeing what the word of God is wrong about. -

cofty I'm looking for your input on my theory. don't want to beg but what do you think of it? Oh. I bet its stupid. Your resolution is more practical anyway. at least everything but what you said about the bible. -

yes, but what about those parables that most people believe in like the one where Jesus says to cut off your eyes and hands. the governing want you to believe those are parables but not the faithful and wise slave? We should all keep this bookmarked. The smallest sentence tells everything.
