I like to call them the new millenium Gestapo.
heil Brooklyn!
a certain young person told me last night a jw friend of his from n.y. received an elder visit .
the suspect was told that the elders had been lurking about on myspace and had caught several young ones with accounts there .
they told this person's account was benign yet was counseled it was bad association to be on myspace.

I'm so glad I have JWD to reveal my thoughts to , otherwise I swear I would go out of my mind ( more than I already am )
My feelings exactly! In fact, I spend more time on here than I even do anywhere else. I was never too interested in myspace. That site is way to popular for me and I've heard of elders lurking on there before.
At JWD you're always safe!
...so said my dear 'ol mom after her and my dad made reservations for this year's district convention and realized that another hotel on the lodging list had a cheaper rate.
she figured that calling up the previous hotel to cancel was against the society's rules counsel listed in the km about making reservations.
so she spends the next 20 minutes looking all over the house for the km to make sure there are no rules against cancelling a reservation already made with a hotel since "we don't want to bring on reproach on jehovah's name.
Nowerdays, in light of the $ocietys massive income & huge property holdings, I guess the Brooklyn Bible $cholars spend most of their time asking "what would Donald Trump do in this situation"

No offense taken Highlander. Dear ol' mom bless her heart is missing a few crayons in the box if ya know what I mean.
No offense, but... my god... do these people wait for the 'approved toilet paper' list to come out in the km before wiping their butts? My mom would do the same thing... What a relief to know I'm not the only one with a crazy mom!
some people's avatars make me smile, others make me think.

Even my dad got fed up and ended up just calling to cancel but by then the room that they wanted had been booked.
we went to our favorite beach, met up with some of our local friends.
we don't have much in the way of details - but heard some devasting news that ari (well known to seattle area exjw's and i am sure by many on the board) killed himself sometime over last weekend.
he was so excited about moving to maui, and starting a new life here.
Sadly, the JW's will not take responsiblity for the shunning but will claim this was all Ary's fault, that he was unhappy since he left Jehovah.
How true! I remember hearing convos of those who committed suicide and my mother would always say" "See what happens when you leave Jehovah and his organization?"
It would scare me as a young girl.
How grateful I am to know this is simply not the case. It is such a harsh reality to know that a religion can do this to a person. I did not know putternut but it sitll hurts.
hey guys,.
listen, we were all "brothers" and "sisters" at one time and it didn't really mean shit.
i'd've turned my back on the lot o' ya when i was a jw and i found out you were apostates.. but now we're all truly brothers and sisters.
It is a real wake up call for me personally to see that there are those who actually go to such an extreme to end all the pain.
How scary to know that this organization I am still a part of has caused a person to actually want to just end it all? Who knows how many more out there who have gone to scuh an extreme.
The Borg is truly the modern day Babylon the Great.
.
thanks princess for helping us remember ari's screen name.. the "sad news from maui" thread is here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/107021/1.ashx
I did not know him but everyone on here is honestly like an extended family so it really hurts me to know one of us is gone.
My deepest condolenscences.
