  hi all, just thought i'd mention something that's been bugging me a bit, i've noticed that a few ppl on this board are using gifs from internetbumperstickers.com.. i myself have gotten some amazing little gifs from that site, they seriously kick the llama's ass!.

  there is only one thing: those nice guys at internetbumperstickers pay real money for the bandwidth they use, and when you guys link to their images in your sigs, that means that every unique ip that views this page (provided they are using an image-enabled browser) is going to download that image from their servers.

  you might think that these tiny 2k gifs are nothing, but believe me, i was an administrator for a couple of websites, and the bandwidth adds up, and pretty soon you're paying through your nose for other people free loading.. the solution is a simple one: merely copy the files to your computer, find a server where you can stick them that allows public http access to files you can upload to it, ftp them onto the server, and then update your sigs to point to the new image location.

  if not I guess I can use Adobe PhotoDeluxe to convert the gif to jpg.

  we just found out not too long ago.

  today, though, was amazing!

  i'm wondering if the majority here were seriously conservative squeaky clean dubs?

  i took the whole thing very seriously.

  there seems to be such a fun element here - i can't imagine everyone being those dull folk all decked out in their wt uniform with accompanying plastic expressions.. marilyn

  I was - not by choice.

  My parents were so strict (dad - elder) that bi-weekly room searches were done starting at age 8. I wasn't allowed any 'worldly' association, and most of the JW kids were off limits too. (They weren't good enough association) No phone usage, no privacy, and no life.

  Didn't stop the rumors about me though. Had a handful of Judicial Committee Meetings called for little ole me (starting at age 12) over things that I had done at worldly & witness parties (that I wasn't allowed to attend & didn't) I was even threatened with DFing by another congregation because of the things they heard I did at a party (I seriously need to meet my doppelganger - she had the best time!!)

  Moved out at 19, lost my virginity (*sigh* to the man I married - non-JW) OOOOOOPs!! he just looked over my shoulder & wanted to know why I was sighing about losing my virginity to him (shhhhh!)

  Anyway, once I got the hell out of Dodge, I made up for lost time :o)

  So, I guess I was squeaky by default - not by choice.

  report of an incident in Upper Michigan:

  A guy buys a brand new Lincoln Navigator for $42,500 and has $560
  monthly payments. He and a friend go duck hunting in winter, and of course all the lakes are frozen. These two guys go out on the lake with the guns, the dog, and of course the new vehicle. They drive out onto the ice and get ready.

  Now, they want to make some kind of a natural landing area for the
  ducks, something for the decoys to float on. In order to make a hole large enough to look like something a wandering duck would fly down and land on, it is going to take a little more effort than an ice hole drill.

  So, out of the back of the new Navigator comes a stick of dynamite
  with a short, 40-second fuse. Now these two Rocket Scientists do take into consideration that they want to place the stick of dynamite on the ice at a location far from where they are standing (and the new Navigator), because they don't want to take the risk of slipping on the ice when they run from the burning fuse and possibly go up in smoke with the resulting blast.

  They light the 40-second fuse and throw the dynamite.

  Remember a couple of paragraphs back when I mentioned the vehicle, the
  guns and the dog? Let's talk about the dog: A highly trained Black Lab used for RETRIEVING. Especially things thrown by the owner. You guessed it, the dog takes off at a high rate of doggy speed on the ice and captures the stick of dynamite with the burning 40-second fuse about the time it hits the ice.

  The two men yell, scream, wave their arms and wonder what to do now. The dog, cheered on, keeps coming. One of the guys grabs the shotgun and shoots the dog. The shotgun is loaded with # 8 buckshot, hardly big enough to stop a Black Lab. The dog stops for a moment, slightly confused, but continues on.

  Another shot and this time the dog, still standing, becomes really
  confused and of course terrified, thinking these two geniuses have gone insane. The dog takes off to find cover, under the brand new Navigator.

  ----BOOM!----
  Dog and Navigator are blown to bits and sink to the
  bottom of the lake in a very large hole, leaving the two idiots standing there with this "I can't believe this happened" look on their faces. The insurance company says that sinking a vehicle in a lake by illegal use of explosives is not covered. He still had yet to make the first of those $560 a month payments!!

  did you ever really believe armaggedon was just about to happen?.

  maybe to such a degree that you were scared or made major changes in your life?.

  i'm not old enought to remmeber 1975 but with the gulf war a lot of people got scared and believed the end was coming ( including me).. werent we doing the revelation book at the time?.

  What are the Supposed Abuses

  seeker et al,.

  ok, i'm watching tv over the weekend and i'm not seeing any of the supposed human rights abuses everyone is crying about for the detainees in guantanamo.

  these guys are fed well (and the food is culturally appropriate) they are kept warm at night (nice blankets) and cool in the day time (ventilation) they can pray when they wish.

  i've posted several times about how i'm fed up with the witnesses but my wife won't budge.

  she's become a bit more tolerant lately, but mostly we get along better when we don't talk about anything substantive.

  i've been working up the nerve to tell the elders why i don't go out anymore.
