  hey everyone, i am new to this site.

  my great grandmother was a witness and i was in the truth in my young childhood.

  my mother is disfellowshipped and i am currently studying with my husband, who knew nothing about the truth but had been very good at studying and has great knowledge about the bible.

  Elder quits meetings

  i received good news from my daughter, it was amazing to her, but she informed me that she met an old friend from a congregations we attended 10 years ago, and the upshot was that the friends partents no longer attended meetings.

  he her dad had been an elder the last i talked with him, he had left the congregation we were in due to the attitude of other elders there, went to a new congregation and the last i heard was very happy there.

  we had had conversations about various aspects of the supposed truth and he always tried to counsel me about the troooth as spouted by the pharasies then.

  how long until they really start cracking down on me?

  any former/current elders especially.

  i am currently an elder and basically miss at least one meeting a week and never go out in service on sundays and seldom on saturdays.

  You can go another two or three years before something happens. As long as the "Publishers" don't complain you can go on for years. Meet for Sunday service and then leave by yourself, because you are going on a bible study and you are picking up your wife to go with you.

  The question is how long do you want to be an "Elder". Just say NO!

  as with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.

  here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.

  jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".

  But in this run for life, some of us looking forward to a change in this old system and its destruction for many years now, there are some of us who get a little weary. And a little tired. And sometimes we just want to throw our hands up and say 'I just don't know if I can go on any further.'

  But, just like a runner when he's running a course, and he gets near to the end, just about the time he thinks he can't go on any further, he realizes 'well there's the goal ahead of [inaudible]' He's come around the last lap, and there it is! Well all of a sudden he just seems to get some reserve power from nowhere, and with a sudden surge of energy, on he goes to break the finish line rope and win the prize.

  Well now, as Jehovah's Witnesses, as runners, even though some of us have become a little weary, it almost seems as though Jehovah has provided meat in due season. Because he's held up before all of us, a new goal. A new year. Something to reach out for and it just seems it has given all of us so much more energy and power in this final burst of speed to the finish line. And that's the year 1975.
