Oh ... and elder's wives!!
.
here are a few facts that i have recently discovered by doing some research.
.
Very convincing!
we started to "bud" in our blouses at 9 or 10 years .
old only to find that anything that came in contact .
with those tender, blooming buds hurt so bad it .
There's a solution for everything! This is for you, Missy!
call me crazy or what, but theres a recurring issue that i have regarding my son's wish to wear his hat in the house.
i've never been certain regarding the reason men were to remove their hats when petitioning the almighty, the issue of headship and being respectful of it and the common custom in the west for a man to remove the hat upon entering one's home or church.
even in the military during basic training, the issue with regard to hats was a predominating theme, to the degree that we were taught that at the instant your head was no longer covered by a building of some sort, your hat was to be immediately placed upon your head, but once open sky no longer covered your head and you walked into a building of any type, that hat was to be removed !!
I think some manners are worth keeping around and this is one of them. Maybe I am just old fashioned! I know the tradition came from Europe but I still do not know why or how it started.
It is just something done out of respect. And respect is something that has lost a lot of meaning. I work in a public school and all of our school buildings in the district are considered "no hat zones".
there are many thing i dont regret about jw
learning from jw about cristmas is one of them
the jw were very open about cristmas, going against the "system" require some strenght and that in itself attracted many to the jw org.
I went back and married a decent jw, i could not find anything better, the "world" did not make, and still doesn't, any sense to me. The girls outside the org scared me, i could not accept, and still dont, their standards for a serious relationship.
Perhaps you should stop trying to find happiness within an organized group of people. Be your own person. Just because a few girls outside the org scared you and do not live up to your standards does not mean the whole world is evil and has the same standards. Respectfully speaking, it seems to me that you still suffer from the black and white thinking exhibited by most JWs.
Are you of the opionion that the Witnesses primarily have the truth, but are just run by imperfect humans? I get that impression from some of your posts.
Also, you seem to express a lot of insight into exJWs. I am wondering if these ideas were formed from only your own persepective, from your observations from other exJWs in real life (I am curious as to how many you have known), or from your observations from exJWs online.
Have ever tried to focus on the postitives in the world of humankind? I think you will find much greater success!

That's hilarious! And so true! You should send that into a magazine.

"the organization" is one of my favorites.
very "cultish" expression, to me.......and you??
New Light
Really ... what other "religion" that isn't a cult uses that phrase?
i am sure i am not the only one that thinks it's ridiculous that they allow pre-teens and young teens to get baptized.
i know now that i did not have a full understanding of the implications of baptism.
i did it primarily because that's what was expected.
Allowing young kids to get baptized is ridiculous. I was 10 years old!!!! I was only in the 4th grade!!! Can you imagine a ten year old understanding the ramifictions of something so serious? I was probably still playing with Barbie dolls!
Because of the severe treatment and implications involved of becoming baptized, I do not think they should allow it until they are 18. Of course that will never happen. They would hardly have anyone get baptized at all then, at least in the Western world.
Just think about how many of those reported baptized at the end of the year were probably under 18. It would interesting to know those statistics. Allowing baptism at a young age allows them to later use emotional blackmail to keep them in. When someone (particular a young adult) decides they no longer want to be a witness, being baptized totally changes the rules of the game.
we had, wait for it.....................home made beef curry and it was fantastic .
i was going to make a dinner, but since there only 3 of us and were not quite there yet, we decided to have our favorite....curry ym.
if the day ever comes and my daughter and her man are out ill have the biggest christmas ever.. but for now, i feel a little empty, and id feel fake, you know trying to enjoy it.
Very untraditional ...
Fajitas ... I made homemade guaqamole and it was delicious! It didn't really matter what we had though ... what matters is that I was not alone on Christmas and was with friends.
By the way ... we missed you guys, Sheila!
(Afterthought ... if I was still a JW, I would be with my family at a circuit assembly this weekend! Scary!)

It is an admirable quality to be able to see positives in something riddled with so many negatives. Sometimes I wish I could do that instead of focusing on all of the bad things. I am sure I could think of some positives about being a JW if I thought REAL hard, but I doubt I would get to even five fingers on one hand.
Just a few comments, though. JWs are not the only ones who recognize the controversial background of Christmas. JWs relied on non-witness research when they decided that they should not celebrate Christmas. Some religions simply use Christmas as a time to focus on the good things that Jesus did in his life, and leave it up to individual families to decide how to celebrate it.
Also, JWs are, by far, not the only ones to "go against the system". All you have to do is read a history book to figure that out.
I am also curious as to what else you find positive about the JWs?
