  who do some people post things that they did not write and do not give credit to the original source?

  so ... maybe you don't know who the original source is.

  maybe you got it in an email that has forwarded and then forwarded a zillion times.

  Forgive me if this is an ignorant view; but isn't plagerism (sp) only related to those wanting to profit in some way from the copywrited words of others? I agree that it is iriitating when it is obviously not original thoughts - but is it as serious as that on a forum? Don't get me wrong - I think credit should be given where deserved - but is this a 'mountains out or molehill' argument?

  Plagiarism is simply taking any writing of someone else and presenting is as your own. It doesn't have to be copyrighted. And yes ... it may be making a mountain out of a molehill when applying it to message forums, but it is irritating nonetheless!

  Example? I ask because you may be assuming that the "original" source you found on the Internet was not written by the same person who "plagiarized" their own thoughts later.

  No ... I don't want to give examples. For several reasons ... like one person said ... they may not realize that it is necessarily rude or wrong. I think it is, but I concede it is probably, most definitely a pet peeve of mine. Also, I don't want to put anybody on the spot and possibly emabarass someone or cause hard feelings. If you want examples, I am sure you can find them.

  I do understand that some people on this site have their own webpages or have their writings published elsewhere. That is not what I am referring to.

  Coincidence or Stress?

  recently and over the years some of the elders and ministerial servants who have been deleted and or forced to step down have died young.

  what do you attribute this to?

  do you know of such occurances in your cong.

  This is my theory ...

  most of the ones that were deleted or forced down were probably at least semi-decent human beings. The elders that are rotten to the core stay in power for eternity. So, the good die young, and the mean just keep on ticking!

  It really irks me! It this were a class, you would be accused of plagiarism and receive an F!

  A word to the wise everyone ... next time someone posts something that is seemingly enlightening or brilliant, copy a string of it and Google it! Sorry to say, you will probably be disappointed.

  Hats Off in the House !!!

  call me crazy or what, but theres a recurring issue that i have regarding my son's wish to wear his hat in the house.

  i've never been certain regarding the reason men were to remove their hats when petitioning the almighty, the issue of headship and being respectful of it and the common custom in the west for a man to remove the hat upon entering one's home or church.

  even in the military during basic training, the issue with regard to hats was a predominating theme, to the degree that we were taught that at the instant your head was no longer covered by a building of some sort, your hat was to be immediately placed upon your head, but once open sky no longer covered your head and you walked into a building of any type, that hat was to be removed !!

  I think some manners are worth keeping around and this is one of them. Maybe I am just old fashioned! I know the tradition came from Europe but I still do not know why or how it started.

  It is just something done out of respect. And respect is something that has lost a lot of meaning. I work in a public school and all of our school buildings in the district are considered "no hat zones".

  there are many thing i dont regret about jw

  learning from jw about cristmas is one of them

  the jw were very open about cristmas, going against the "system" require some strenght and that in itself attracted many to the jw org.

  I went back and married a decent jw, i could not find anything better, the "world" did not make, and still doesn't, any sense to me. The girls outside the org scared me, i could not accept, and still dont, their standards for a serious relationship.

  Perhaps you should stop trying to find happiness within an organized group of people. Be your own person. Just because a few girls outside the org scared you and do not live up to your standards does not mean the whole world is evil and has the same standards. Respectfully speaking, it seems to me that you still suffer from the black and white thinking exhibited by most JWs.

  Are you of the opionion that the Witnesses primarily have the truth, but are just run by imperfect humans? I get that impression from some of your posts.

  Also, you seem to express a lot of insight into exJWs. I am wondering if these ideas were formed from only your own persepective, from your observations from other exJWs in real life (I am curious as to how many you have known), or from your observations from exJWs online.

  Have ever tried to focus on the postitives in the world of humankind? I think you will find much greater success!
