People who would blame God for such things are mostly people who haven't given the subject much thought.
Yes, I agree. It is a simplistic answer that requires little thought. I like this cartoon below because that is how most of the world is feeling whether they believe in God or not.

ok so maybe i'm being played but believe it or not, i just got a letter from the president, that's right, the president of the united states of america!!!
he was thanking many of his constituents for supporting him in his campaign.
and get this, unlike the the problems that are resulting from donald rumsfeld's not taking the time to sign the letters, notifying their loved ones of the soldiers deaths, this appears to be written out in his own personal handwriting.

Yes ... I took my JW neices (5 and 16) to see it last week. They loved it too! When "Lemony Snicket" released the first book in his series, critics said the books were awful and were too dark for kids to want to read. Turns out ... the only series that has sold more books to date is Harry Potter!
Funny story while we were out at the movie, my 16 year old neice was asking if I had seen a certain movie, but kept referring to it as "you know" because she didn't want to say the title in front of my younger neice. I could not think what movie she could possibly be referring to. I was trying to think of every rated R movie that has come out recently. Finally, I said ... "Just spell it, for heaven's sake!" Finally she said, "Have you seen h-a-r-r-y-p-o-t-t-e-r?" LOL! Poor kid! I told her that her mom and I used to watch Bewitched when we were kids and I cannot understand why Harry Potter is any worse.
Then, she told me her dirty little secret! She checked out a Harry Potter book from the library and has been reading it!
i think it's kind of funny.

I disagree that they do not pay any attention to the numbers. When I was still in ... we ALWAYS looked at the numbers because the smaller the number, the closer it was to armageddon! One year we were very excited when it appeared that 8 people had died! Sick, isn't it.
I agree that a "good JW" would never question it. If they did, they would rationalize it to death.

Is feeling suicidal weird or normal? I think considering the circumstances, it was not that weird.
I also use to sit in my car in the parking lot and cry before I went into work in the mornings. I had nightmares too, but it is was the unexplained sobbing fits that came out of nowhere that drove me nuts. I would go to the store to but milk, the cashier would wish me a nice day, and I would go out the store ... waaaahaaahaaa!!!!! Glad I got over that!

how in the heck can the school board justify turning the education of anyone over to some jacka$$ that dropped out of school to pioneer and makes their living cleaning toilets!
how can any parent that truely loves their kid not take a good long look at themselves and say "i am not the best teacher for this child.
My personal experience tells me that parents who are NOT jdubs that homeschool their kids do it for academic reasons...those children tend to excell. But jdub parents who pull their kids out of school because of association...those kids tend to be slow socially and intelectually. Does this make sense? So I guess it depends on the reasons behind homeschooling. If parents are motivated enough to take on the responsibility and smart enough, it can work very well...if they just want their kids to be super controlled and sheltered, its a huge disadvantage.
Again, I think that is a generalization and perhaps an unfair one. My parents put my sister and I into homeschooling to get us away from "bad association" and they pretty much left us to fend for our own learning.
I definitely excelled more than her academically, but even though my sister did not finish, she is a very intelligent person. She is well read and can carry on an very intelligent conversation about a variety of subects.
With that being said, here is the disclaimer: My sister is still a JW, so I guess she can't be *that* intelligent! Also, while she can carry on a conversation about a lot of different subjects, she tends to turn into a different person ... a stupid person ... when it comes to religion and the witnesses. Sometimes, I just want to shake her!
