  JW.ORG Roku Channel?

  why is the jw.org channel listed under the "popluar tab" on my roku?

  it's nestled right next to the facebook channel and fox news!

  i downloaded it for a few and it is mostly old creepy men giving talks or reenactments with bad acting.

  I wonder how long it has been there.  And I wonder how long it will take to disappear off the popular list.  I bet a lot of people have downloaded it on accident and thought WTF?

  On a side note ... is Roku used in other countries besides the US?  I am wondering if these large numbers downloading the channel are just the US or worldwide.

  They have snippets from their "Annual Meeting" from the past 3 years on there.  I'm sure they edited it to include only what they want the public to hear.  I couldn't make myself watch it to find out.

  14,121 partakers??? What?  I remember years ago seeing totals drop down into the 8,000s and I remember thinking, "Hurry up and die, people!" because you know, back then, that would mean the end was EVEN closer!

  What a jump!  I have a theory that the amount of increase of partakers has a positive correlation to the amount of increase in mentally ill Jehovah's Witnesses.  If only there were a way to test this theory ...

  Early Morning Informal Witnessing, Yay!!

  how many of us would get up and "start your time" by 6:00am or earlier?.

  i sure did my fair share and convinced many others to join me semi-regularly.. we'd stand out in front of "somewhere/something", you remember?.

  donut shop, 7-11, liquor store ( genius ), driving to laundry rooms or coin-op's, etc... anyway, this past sunday i was pumping fuel for the long trip home early in the morning out of l.a. to norcal, when i spotted a young, energetic version of myself 20 years ago.

  Yeah, I remember us going to the laundry mat at 8:45 to "start our time" before going to the Kingdom Hall to meet for service.  The unwritten rule was that you couldn't start counting time until 9:15 or 9:30 or whenever it was you left the Kingdom Hall to start service, but if you "started" your time early, the clock could keep going until we met back at the Kingdom Hall at noon.  You could eek out another 30 minutes to an hour by doing the laundry mat trick.

  That is a true sign that we hated what we did.  We did everything we could to eek out extra time instead of doing actual witnessing!  I'm so glad I'm out!

  Of course I would go for my mother, just like I would go to any church she might belong to when she died.

  My dad on the other hand ... I did not go. It was at a Kingdom Hall and I would not have gone no matter what church it was at.

  There are many reasons people choose to not attend their parent's funeral or memorial service, but to not go simply because it is in a church you do not agree with is silly.

  a minny man in a local congregation has a beard...he was bullied by the elders to remove it.. then the co came along and told the elders to allow him to keep his beard.

  (not as the result of any skin condition or anything).. i kid you not!!!.

  what do you make of that?.

  if you don't like being a jehovah's witness or going to the kingdom hall or the society then leave.... it's as simple as that... .

  i left several years ago and have not been hounded, bothered or sought out by anyone.

  i still see them from time to time, and yes, they do pour out the love bomb when you run into them, but eh, you know what?

  You sound like someone who converted as an adult, and was not raised in this religion from birth (or a young age). You sound like someone who does not have any family still in. Am I right? If you do still have family in, then I definitely want to know how you were able to leave so easily.

  I left many years ago when I was 23 or 24, but it was anything but easy. I agree that if someone is on the fence, that to leave sooner rather than later would be best, but it is not always that easy or cut and dry.

  To tell them to just leave trivializes how difficult the journey really is. And it is definitely a journey, not a bridge you just jump off.
