What is the official stance on shunning family that "faded"?
by Wild_Thing indoes anybody have any quotes from watchtower literature or video that shows what their stance is on associating with family who have left the witnesses?
or even what the unofficial stance is?.
not disfellowshipped or officially disassociated, just "inactive" for say 15-20 years, but also openly living a "worldly" life birthdays, holidays, including attending another church?

Do JWs still leave literature in the door?
by Wild_Thing ini came home to a watchtower in my door.
i thought i had heard a while back that they had stopped putting literature in doors except for tracts whenever they had one of their campaigns.

So I just dug it out of the trash and looked. The Watchtower said "Vol.3 2016". I have no idea what this means since they don't put months not there anymore. Does anyone know how recent that is?

I just can't believe that they can't even get rid of their Watchtowers even though they are now printed so infrequently ( and not twice a month, like the good ol' days) Wait ... wait ... yes I can. -

Differences Between Ex-JWs
by David_Jay inwe are not all the same--a real "duh, david!
so i figured if i didn't feel that sense of solidarity that seems missing among the debating, then i was part of the problem.
i'm responsible for making this place feel like a support and place of solidarity, just as much as anyone else.. but approaches i tried didn't work until i shut up for a while.

You made excellent points, David. The sad fact is that all of us were hurt and sometimes still hurting because of the Watchtower, but we all had different journeys getting there and getting out. Some of came out more unscathed than others, and there are a lot of factors that determine that, as you pointed out.

Thank you to everyone for sharing their experiences and information. That was what I was afraid of. The problem with finding Watchtower quotes about this or anything else is they don't want to admit it was even printed if it is more than two years old. Their beliefs, doctrines, and directives to their members seem to change on almost a yearly basis now. I feel like they need to publish a yearly bulletin on their changes in beliefs and practices. It is hard to keep up with when you are no longer one of them. I wonder if those on the inside find it hard to keep up, too.

My mother claims that the Witnesses now see people that left the witnesses as "lost sheep" and they don't encourage shunning. My sister's behavior says otherwise. Trying to reconcile the this conflict in apparent "truth".
Thanks for your help!

3 Things:
1. They are going to have a "Bible Museum"? And their one point of pride is having an original King James bible? I don't even know what to say. Haven't they always touted their own translation as the ONE and ONLY true translation?
2. They are donating materials and labor to help build a sports park for team sports. Something they deny to their own children.
3. They are working with Boy Scouts on a volunteer service project. Boy Scouts! Again, something they deny to their own children.
This all screams hypocrisy so loud, that its deafening.
