i do not know if there are any other fans of political cartoons like me, but there is a large collection of cartoons concerning the tsunami disaster.
most of them express the tragedy in a symbolic way or have a message to make you think.
only a few invite political debate, which you can just ignore if you want to.
Actually, calling it an "act of God" makes sense. If there is a god, then this and every other "natural" disaster is at his or her or it's doorstep. It is your position Schizoid, that is "not a very intelligent way of looking at it". You can give god/s a pass if you want, just don't imagine that it is "intelligent" for you to do so.
The problem I have with calling it an act of God is that it implies there is some omnipotent force behind it. If it was an act of God, then the next question would be: Why would God allow such a thing to happen. There is not a satisfactory answer for that no matter how hard you try. Unfortunately, that does not stop people from trying to find a reason, including the JWs who simply say "it is a sign of this end of this system of things". The answer seems to always fit their current religious philosophy.
Why not just allow it to be a tragic force of nature that happens because of the way the world works ... meaning techtonic plates and all that jazz? Not asking you really ... more a rhetorical question.
here's a couple: the governing body will allow *non-spiritual israelites* on their board.
#2 the society will install visa/mastercard services at the convention sites and in kingdom halls.........any others??????
?
Prince will go serve at Bethel.

People who would blame God for such things are mostly people who haven't given the subject much thought.
Yes, I agree. It is a simplistic answer that requires little thought. I like this cartoon below because that is how most of the world is feeling whether they believe in God or not.

ok so maybe i'm being played but believe it or not, i just got a letter from the president, that's right, the president of the united states of america!!!
he was thanking many of his constituents for supporting him in his campaign.
and get this, unlike the the problems that are resulting from donald rumsfeld's not taking the time to sign the letters, notifying their loved ones of the soldiers deaths, this appears to be written out in his own personal handwriting.
Interesting ...

Yes ... I took my JW neices (5 and 16) to see it last week. They loved it too! When "Lemony Snicket" released the first book in his series, critics said the books were awful and were too dark for kids to want to read. Turns out ... the only series that has sold more books to date is Harry Potter!
Funny story while we were out at the movie, my 16 year old neice was asking if I had seen a certain movie, but kept referring to it as "you know" because she didn't want to say the title in front of my younger neice. I could not think what movie she could possibly be referring to. I was trying to think of every rated R movie that has come out recently. Finally, I said ... "Just spell it, for heaven's sake!" Finally she said, "Have you seen h-a-r-r-y-p-o-t-t-e-r?" LOL! Poor kid! I told her that her mom and I used to watch Bewitched when we were kids and I cannot understand why Harry Potter is any worse.
Then, she told me her dirty little secret! She checked out a Harry Potter book from the library and has been reading it!
i think it's kind of funny.
how do they explain more people this year than lasts?
i thought the number was suppose to get lower as they died off?
95stormfront,
I disagree that they do not pay any attention to the numbers. When I was still in ... we ALWAYS looked at the numbers because the smaller the number, the closer it was to armageddon! One year we were very excited when it appeared that 8 people had died! Sick, isn't it.
I agree that a "good JW" would never question it. If they did, they would rationalize it to death.

I think Jehovah was audited.
