making women put a napkin on their head in the presence of a male to say a prayer or whatever.
that always made me laugh.

i was thinking of doing a poll of our users about religions.
what i would like is for you to submit a question or two about a particular facet of a religion/it's org and a number from 1 to 10 on how important it might be if you were considering any particular religion.
if someone answered your question and gave a number please try to come up with a new one or recommend your own number for their question.
I'm not sure I understand your number system or maybe I'm just too drunk!
But here is a question that I think would be great to poll and would love to know what others would say:
If you were FORCED to belong to a religion ... any religion ... what religion (even relunctantly) would you choose? It has to be a RECOGNIZED religion ... "Church of Valis" or anything silly like that doesn't count!
i realize that it's entirely possible that i'm seeing things from my own perspective only but i've noticed a increasingly powerful voice speaking for religious thoughts in world politics.
are we seeing a return to a victorian age?
am i just paranoid?
Is the general public showing it's tacit approval?
I think they are, but not intentionally. A lot of Americans are just not involved. They go about their daily life and do little more than bitch and complain about how things are (or are becoming). It has always been this way (at least for many many years), but the difference is that I see a big movement in right-wing religions getting involved in government and politics, and *the rest of us* are just now starting to look around and say WTF?
Albert Einstein said that Americans will put with anything provided it doesn't block traffic! I think this so true! Americans have to feel it (what "it" is) impact their daily lives enough before most of us will even feel complelled to do anything about it.
as a jw, did anyone ever ask you the following.... "if you discovered that jehovah's witnesses weren't really teaching the truth, would you leave them?".
here again, it's a toughie for most of them.
if they say "no" they appear a mind-numbed fool.
No one ever asked me that question.
First, you would have to be in the presence of someone who might ask you a question like that, and dubs never are. Dubs only hang out with dubs. Second, if/when dubs are around other people they do not discuss religion with anyone who might challenge their beliefs and "weaken their faith".

I think it is an American phenomenon ... one that will hopefully end very soon!
never been in one, but know they are not all exactly alike.
are any pictures hanging in them at all, of jesus, god, etc?.
are there kids' bible story pictures or anything?
Ummm ... I remember some pretty pictures of some flowers on the wall! I also remember one Kingdom Hall had a painting that was a representation of Paradise?.
The society's calendar hanging on the bulletin board had pictures of bible scenes on them. I'm sure the kids learned a lot from those!
And Sunday School??? Are you kidding??? You are expected to behave as an adult and suffer through the same two hours of horse shit that everyone else has to endure! And be still. And don't talk. And don't draw beards on the pictures in the magazines!
i came across this picture some time ago and i just think it's funny!
lol!
i wonder what in the world he sees in there?
You guys are thinking along the same lines as me! LOL!
I thought he was probably thinking .... That is ONE HOT SISTER knocking on that door!
Either that or he's straining to have a good poop!

i was discussing with my mother (still a jw in good standing) and we were laughing about how in every watchtower, when they show "good christian witnesses" at someone's home or doing family activities, they always wear khakis, without fail.
and whenever they show "worldly" people, they are wearing jeans.
have y'all noticed this?
He actually tried to explain the difference between wearing your cap backwards for work and wearing it backwards for style. For work = okay. For style = not okay. That seems somewhat cultish
Ya think????
I wonder how many other religions would devote such time to a discussion on how to wear a hat!
if you are an atheist, what are your thoughts on the afterlife?
mortality?
we are what we are until we die, then are no more?
