Jenny was his JW Australian wife he married. They were both assigned as missionaries to the island nation of Tuvalu. He has an 8th/9th grade education tops. I don't know the education level of Jenny, but I doubt it was more. Neither of them knew how to speak the language before becoming missionaries there.

by Wild_Thing inin geoffrey jackson's autobiography published in in the watchtower, he states that him and his wife went to serve as missionaries on the island nation of tulavu in 1979, and there were only 3 baptized witnesses in all of tulavu, and he translated all of the witness literature into the tuvaluan language in 1980, printing it right there on the island.

This is quite a discrepancy. Can anyone make sense of it?

This man dropped out of school when he was 15. He does not have any formal education beyond 8th, possibly 9th grade. But he wrote a dictionary and a grammar book. That the Australian government printed "as a gift" to these Island people. I would really like some verification on that.

fading/holidays
by Drifting Away inso for those that are fading, i have been fading for almost 6 months now.
havent been to a meeting, assembly, service, etc.
i no longer believe it is the truth.. how long did you wait before celebrating holidays, if in fact you are even celebrating them.
-
Wild_Thing
It took me about a year a half before I could celebrate anything, and even then I couldn't enjoy because I was so racked with an unexplained guilt.
I don't think there is a magic number as when to start. It's different for everyone. It is an amazing feeling when you can start celebrating birthdays and holidays with no guilt. I hope it takes you less time than it took me.

Canadian Appeal Court decision made the news: Judges can overturn unfair church edicts
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://news.nationalpost.com/news/religion/alberta-appeal-court-rules-judges-can-overturn-unfair-church-edicts.
the other day, this court decision was posted on jwn along with a link to the court document, but few expected the media to pick up the story.
so to all involved, i understand it was a surprise to see the story in print.

Wow. This is really surprising. I can't see that ever happening in America.
And I can't see how it would work to reverse a shunning edict. Sure, I suppose they could "reverse" a disfellowshipping, I guess, but how are they going to enforce a "no shunning order". I can't see how they can make a group of people not shun a person. The society would simply change it to a "conscience matter" and everybody would shun the person anyway. And if you don't, they might take away your mike privileges!

Anthony Morris III Autobiography ... The Real Truth
by Wild_Thing inthe watchtower published anthony morris iii's autobiography last year ... "remembering my first love has helped me to endure" by anthony morris iii.
i absolutely cannot believe how quickly he became a jehovah's witness.
in the span of less than a year, he attended his first meeting, studied, got baptized, became a pioneer, and married a jw girl.

I think all of those bullshit autobiographies that they publish of the Governing Body should be written like this. They'd be more honest and not coated with their self-righteous goo of half truths and lies.

Science the bible and some telling scriptures
by Crazyguy inif one reads about god creating the earth with any critical thinking you'll notice that he created vegetation and the trees before the sun.
another one that i just read about was the stories about the golden calves.
one story involves the making of a golden calf by aaron and the other is about the golden calves that were set up at bethel and i think dan.

Most of the bible does not jive with science.

If anyone claimed that god speaks to them personally.....
by jambon1 inthey'd be viewed as completely mentally ill and laughed at.. so, how do the governing body get away with it?.
-
Wild_Thing
Because they have learned how to hide their crazy a lot better. You don't hear them talk about God speaking to them or coming to them in a dream, they use vague terms like "his holy spirit directed us" and they were just given a "knowingness" that they were anointed.
