  i have been watching this video.

  at about the 4:40 mark, the footage shows a big black tank with two windows (they look like windows).

  at the 4:46 mark, you can 2 of the tanks already in the ground and they being installing a third one.

  It is interesting the little nuances you notice if you pause the footage periodically and just study the surroundings. I would love to know who the other people are in the video, especially the woman at the beginning.

  And it is really creepy when JFR sticks his tongue out at the beginning.

  i consider myself an amateur watchtower history buff.

  i have always read that maria frances ackley russell, charles taze russell's first and only wife, went to a teacher training college and was a teacher for a number of years before marrying russell.

  but, i have never seen proof that she truly did finish college and became a certified teacher.

  If you compare the dates each volume was published with dates of documented events in their marriage, I think it is safe to assume that Maria likely did not have any part in writing the 4th volume. Their marriage was on the rocks pretty early in the 1880s. It appears that as CTR became more fanatical with his views and self-aggrandizing, the more conflict there was in their marriage. I do think volume one was either a joint venture between the two, or completely penned by Maria.

  Studies in the Scriptures:

  Volume 1: The Divine Plan of the Ages (1886)

  Volume 2: The Time is at Hand (1889)

  Volume 3: "Thy Kingdom Come" (1891)

  Volume 4: The Battle of Armageddon (1897)

  Volume 5: The At-One-Ment Between God and Man (1899)

  Volume 6: The New Creation (1904)

  The Marriage of Charles and Maria Russell:

  1979 - Married

  1895 - Maria claims this was the first year that Charles first suggested separation

  1896 - Charles and Maria disagree about the editorship of the paper. Russell wrote letter to Maria saying their marriage was a mistake. He said, "For the past three years you have been cruelly forcing upon me the evidence that we both erred when we married."

  1897 - Separated in November

  1897-1909 - Drama, drama, drama until separation/divorce was final

  I have always wondered why a white English family in the mid 1850s would give their child a hispanic name!

  There are scientists who specialize in analyzing writing patterns to identify authorship. They have done that with books of the bible, with an unknown degree of accuracy. Since we have known samples of C.T.'s writing and known samples of Maria's writing, I would think it would be fairly easy for someone with the expertise to determine authorship of Studies in the Scriptures. I wonder how much this venture would cost? (More than I have, but I am curious).

  I was researching Maria Frances Ackley Russell. I have gone down a rabbit hole lately and have been interested in her life and the part she played in the early Watchtower that the society would like to sweep under the rug.

  There is a record of her being a student at Pennsylvania Central High School when she was about 16, which had a free teacher training program, but during the Russells divorce proceedings, she said went to Curry Normal School for her teacher training, which a teacher program that required tuition. I was looking for proof that she attended Curry University when I happened upon this gem. I am still not sure at which institution she studied at to become a teacher. Perhaps, it was both. More research is needed.

  I have found records of Maria being listed as a teacher at the First Ward in Allegheny for the 1868 and the 1869 school year. That would have been when she was 18 and 19 years old. I need to do more research on teacher education from that time period. It is possible she was in training and didn't have her "permanent certificate" when was teaching in 1868.

  Awesome! I had heard/read that she did some of the early writing in the Watchtower magazine.

  Yes, she did. If you compare writing styles of the early Watchtower writings, you can tell which ones she wrote and which ones were penned unedited by CTR. His had a lot more grammar mistakes!

I have always read that Maria Frances Ackley Russell, Charles Taze Russell's first and only wife, went to a teacher training college and was a teacher for a number of years before marrying Russell. But, I have never seen proof that she truly did finish college and became a certified teacher. Here is proof! This is significant because it is proof of how much more educated she was than Russell, a man who would go on to create an organization that rallies against higher education.
