I believe it is meant to be about guns, but that is not what I took away from it.

4 people were hurt by the dog ... 2 were JWs. The older woman was severely hurt. I hope the old woman survives. I hate seeing another martyr die for their stupid No Blood doctrine.

I did a little bit more digging. Guess where the story about the suicide attempt came from? A New York Times article from 1988! These guys really need to broaden their reading material. https://www.nytimes.com/1988/02/25/us/brain-wound-eliminates-man-s-mental-illness.html

The statistics he used in that talk were used in a 1988 awake where they quoted from a 1988 New York Times article.
Awake: https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/101988372
Every person that has heard Losch spout his "statistics" needs to understand where and when these statistics were compiled. The survey he quotes is from 30 years ago. The same survey also showed that there was also a rise in freshmen who supported laws against homosexuality (53%), and a decline of support for legalization of marijuana ... clearly showing what different time period it is from. Link: https://www.nytimes.com/1988/01/14/us/to-freshmen-a-big-goal-is-wealth.html
Besides the fact that there is absolutely nothing wrong with hoping to make more money after graduating college, these statistics are grossly out of date. The survey was directed by Dr. Alexander W. Astin for the Higher Education Research Institute at the University of California at Los Angeles.
The key word here is "annual". They conduct the exact same survey every year. It would be very easy for them to use more current data. The funny thing is that the question about money being a motivating factor is up to 72.6%, but it is not the most motivating factor. Here is the most current freshman survey for anyone interested. It is from 2016: https://www.heri.ucla.edu/monographs/TheAmericanFreshman2016.pdf
I haven't found the table for the 1988 data, but here is the table from 2016, so you can see how the question was asked and results tabulated. The first screen shot is of the actual question that is asked of freshmen. The second screenshot is of the results for 2016.

Jehovah's Witnesses Scripturally Based Position on Child Protection

jehovah's witnesses scripturally based position on child protection.
i am having trouble understanding paragraph 5. it says: .

The issue ... and this is THE issue ... is that the elders are not qualified to investigate and decide if a child is still in danger or not.
That one statement "the branch office of Jehovah’s Witnesses will instruct the elders to report the matter IF a minor is still in danger of abuse or there is some other valid reason" leaves a lot open to subjective interpretation. I think that by them putting this is writing, they are opening themselves up to lawsuits later on. This will come back to bite them. They are instructing their elders to make a judgment call that is typically done by trained professionals, i.e. social workers, etc. That makes them liable.
When are they going to understand: STOP INVESTIGATING! CALL THE AUTHORITIES! HELP THE VICTIM REMAIN SAFE UNTIL AUTHORITIES ARE CONTACTED. Those should be the only instructions given to elders when it comes to child abuse.

JEHOVAH - The biggest racist in history!?
by stuckinarut2 inmany people like to boast about “jehovah being loving and impartial toward all”.
there are even scriptures that say words to that effect.. however, if we look at just his actual conduct and actions , and not accept the words supposedly written by his apologetic “bible writers”, the facts tell us something else!.
firstly, he chose one special nation and race of people.

God takes on the personality and image of whoever is writing about it. Humans can be the biggest egomaniacs. "I'm a racist, so God must be one, too!"

This claim has been disproven over and over again.
First, that is a TERRIBLE photoshop job to try to make the Watchtower's CTR fit the narrative of whomever created that piece-meal document.
Second, a little research will show you that this was a different Charles T. Russell. See this link for a full biography of the correct Charles T. Russell that was a Freemason. That Charles T. Russell was an attorney in Isabella County in the state of Michigan. https://archive.org/stream/portraitbiograph00ch#page/470/mode/2up

I couldn't tolerate the cultural aspects of JWs that I grew up with. Their stance against education, the shunning of non-members, the belittling of women, and the mishandling of physical and sexual abuse within families in the congregations was enough for me to abandon ship. I observed all of these things first hand or experienced them myself. It was later after I left that I decided to do research and determined it was just another religion.
