The Travel Channel aired a show, "Most Haunted" featuring the city walks and horribly, macabre underground vaults of Edinburgh. Supposedly the poor lived beneath the streets in caves and caverns where robbery and murder took place. The ghosts said to roam the underground rooms are angry and agressive with visitors, sometimes touching, pushing, or calling their names. For all you UK cousins, have you, or friends or family members, experienced this place, popular with tourists? Can you recommend a visit, or do you think it's over--hyped to lure us Americans across the Pond?

Did a lot of your health problems clear up after you left the JW?
by Check_Your_Premises ini notice that so many at the hall have these vague, chronic diseases or afflictions that make it hard for them to go to all the meetings or out in regular service.
some get all sorts of sinus problems.
others have chronic fatigue.. did these clear up after you left, indicating that in many instances these were psychosomatic?.

I don't know if they were psychosomatic, but my terrible headaches and stomach pain definitely were caused by stress, and cleared up when that heavy burden of meetings, talks and service was off my shoulders. Oh, and the requirement to be the perfect example at all times to the other "youthful lovers of Jepoobah."

Wolfgirl, about that wicked skirt... I'd have said, "You are right, Sister Witchywife! I appreciate the fine guidance and am demonstrating my repentance RIGHT NOW, in front of your husband by taking the skirt OFF! (swishing sound as skirt floats to the floor) Best if you were wearing thongs or fishnet tights.

Did you know of any JW elders or JW pioneers that were "racist"?
by booker-t ini know this might sound like a question from "la-la" land but as a black ex-jws most of the white jw's that i did have contact with were really nice.
i was talking to a hispanic ex-jws the other day and he was telling me of some of the racist experiences he had as a jw.
i did not contradict him but i never experienced racism from caucasian jw's.

There were two young couples at my childhood Hall, very much in love. Both were white brothers and pretty black sisters. They were pressured to find a "suitable marriage mate" of their own race. Think of how hard it will be for you, marriage is hard enough without the added pressures, what about the children, what a tough time they'll have in school as mixed race kids, bla-bla. They finally drove a wedge between these couples, and all of them married within their own race, mediocre marriages they settled for, it seemed like.
