i can usually see the skating rink in the park below my window.. i can usually see the river between those trees in the background.
i can usually see the mountains beyond that.. as you can see, i can't see any of those things today.

by willyloman ini just realized that my last post was number 1974 and i felt compelled to make number 1975 significant enough to deserve being named after that "marked" year.
however, i can't come up with anything.

They Tell The Elders One Thing And The Others Something Else!
by minimus inthe organization is so deceitful that they will tell the watchtower readers that the elders should deal mercifully with wrongdoers but in private letters or correspondence thru the circuit overseers, they will tell the elders not to allow "leaven" within their midst.
they say it's better to disfellowship and see whether someone's truly repentant afterwards rather than taking a chance to contaminate the congregation.......another example of their being two-faced is that they will tell the brotherhood not to buy homes, cars, vacations, etc.
unnecessarily as it could signal materialism, yet the watchtower society spends more money on real estate than we could ever possibly imagine but it's ok for them..........can you think of other things that show that the organization is hypocritical??

Hmmm, good thread! I wonder why my elder at work isn't pioneering instead of working a full time job? His wife works full time too, long hours, and they both rake in good money. They have no children at home to support. So, they really could pioneer, it seems like, or at least one of them could! Practice what you preach!

OMG I just saw a BlueJay outside my window.
by Lady Lee inby the time i went to get my camera he was gone.. the other day the news had a picture of a cardinal here in ottawa.. i haven't seen a blue jay since i was a kid.
it has been raining since last night and the temperature is just above freezing so i am really surprised to see anything except ravens, pigeons and house wrens.
my window is just at the top of the tree tops so now i will be keeping an eye out the window a lot more otfen.. there is a poor sad looking soggy squirrel out there sitting on a branch too.. .

You are right about squirrels, Lady Lee! They're so cute to watch and become almost tame. Well, I thought they were so cute till my husband came in from the shed Sunday and told me they had got in and tore the stuffing out of my patio chair cushions to line their nests, lol!

Both Bluejays and squirrels love peanuts, if you can nail a squirrel feeder onto a tree trunk, they are so entertaining to watch! They squabble over the nuts but will expect them every day!

I used to fake illness alot on Saturdays, and near the end of the month my parents would panic to get something on my report slip. They'd say, "Surely you must have witnessed to some kids at school, RIGHT?" If I muttered no, I hadn't, they'd quick whip the car into a laundromat parking lot and push me out to drop a stack o' magazine doo-doo on the folding counters so I could count an hour! We couldn't have an elder's child (swooning in shock) IRREGULAR!

was there ever an issue as to whether you were / weren't allowed to wear shoes at a group book study in someones house , so everyone had to dump their shoes at the door?.

Some of the bookstudy groups expected us to wear slippers or at least remove our shoes. Supposedly, it was also to foster the atmosphere of a "family" gathered in the living room, so people would feel relaxed and comment more.

My Crazy Mother learns a lesson
by RichieRich inyesterday (monday) i was off school and work, and i told my mother i would go out in service.
so monday morning i got up, got dressed, drove to the hall, and there was no one there.
i fell asleep in my car while i waited, woke up to wave at a brother, then fell back asleep, and then woke up, looked around and left.
