  How Do JWs Misapply The Scriptures???

  did you know that all these hurricanes and tsunamis are a "sign" that we're in "the time of the end"?

  almost anything that happens is "proof" that we're "living in the last days".

  when george bush sr. talked about a "new world order", in the 80's, that too was a "sign".

  Another one that is misapplied alot:

  Matt.24:14

  They say it says WE HAVE TO preach all over the world and then the end will come. (So if we quit preaching, the end will never come? If we preach faster, more, the end will come sooner??)

  That's NOT true.

  Matt.24:14 says ; 14 And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come.

  There's nowhere a word WE HAVE TO DO THAT. Not in Matthew 24. Maybe the angels will? When you read Revelations it tells clearly about an angel bringing the good news.

  Of course in MAtt.28:20 Jesus gave us an assignment to preach to other people. But that's all. He didn't force us to preach to EVERY MAN on earth, I think.

  Re-read the Harp of God:

  Typing machines, automobiles, newspapers, telephones...they were all sign of the very last days! Really!

  Well if that's the truth, the invention of internet must be a sign of the LAST LAST days...at least for the WT society

  When I was a kid, we had no tv.

  When I married we refused to have tv for the first couple of years. I remember how "the devil tried to let us have tv" because in one year we were offered a tv fro free, three times.(We really felt it that way!)

  Now we have tv for 10 years or so. I love to see everything OLD, everything I missed when I was young. Ohwww. THAT's what everyone back then was talking about!!!

  We were not allowed to see this blue little men "smurfs" (don't know if they were in other countries too??).

  Music: I remember my mother and my brother arguing alot of times because he loved Queen. She said it was satanic (because there IS the word Beelzebub in the lyrics)

  When I was older heard this great music...and later found out it was Queen ...eeeeks! Oh my...I must be such a wrong person to like this music!

  Michael Jackson was soooo not done.

  And R.E.M. I don't know why.

  By the way I am still "inside" ...if you know what I mean.I love some music, I think it's gospel. (Young Messiah, Young Amadeus, etc) I think that's not okay...too. :)

  Jesus or Satan ?

  the michael changes post reminded me, how many times have the wt confused jesus with satan?

  i know there are a few where first they said the person was jesus then satan then back again to jesus.

  anyone know of a complete list?

  Okay thanks for explaining the Jesus/Satan thing.

  I found out it is even worse. Remember - in English they turned around in the same year.

  On my WT library I coulcn't find it. The book "Man's Salvation..." (in my language) had a completely different paragraph on page 208 -saying JESUS was the sower of the mustard seed, but the devil made it a different three.

  So I guess the meaning got lost in translation? LOL. what a coincidence - I own the book "Man's salvation..." in English - and yes there it is: The sower is Satan.

  As for the WT of 1975 (our language 1976) they had some difficulties: How to explain something changed if it never changed at all? Because they never told us it was Satan (not in our country), now they had a problem with explaining the question "Why should someone ever think the sower must be Satan." (because no one ever thought of that...and they forgot to tell us in the translated Salvation book)

  So what was the soulution: They refer to "Man's salvation, p.208. (In English).

  Maybe they were hoping that no-one would ever really read that paragraph...

  haha i hope this doesn't come across as mean or jerky or libelous... but i can totally see defd becoming apostate... he posts here a lot which means he reads even more.

  to me it's just a matter of "seeing it when you're ready to"... kind of like those 3d art things that were popular in the mid-90's... it's invisible until you make deep focus and at the same time blur your eyes to what you would normally see.

  i just did a search on google for pro-jw forums, there doesn't seem to be any.. i remember the old days, back in the 90's.... you had:.

  www.witnesses.net - closed around 2000. www.jwzone.org - closed around 2001 - are they still active but under a different name?.

  anyone remember any others?.

  to me it's just a matter of "seeing it when you're ready to"... kind of like those 3d art things that were popular in the mid-90's... it's invisible until you make deep focus and at the same time blur your eyes to what you would normally see.
