There is some sarcastic humor in Paul's letter to the Galatians, only perceptible if one keeps in mind the letter's context: hard line Jewish-Christians who wanted gentile converts to keep the Law of Moses, especially circumcision. Near the end (5:12) Paul says that he wished they "would proceed from circumcision to self-mutilation" (Wade's translation), or "let the knife slip" (Henry Wansbrough, Introducing the NT, 206-207; the Jerusalem Bible). The REB reads: "Those agitators had better go the whole way and make eunuchs of themselves!"

Is there any humor in the bible?
by Normalfulla inhumor plays a big part in a lot of humanity and we all like a good laugh but as far as i'm aware god's supposed word has no actual humor ,of course apart from being a joke itself ,why wasn't there a passage or something like "jesus farted and giggles broke out among them " or something, is anyone aware of any notations of humor ?
all to.serious really.

SBF,
Could it be that in 2015 they were just beginning the cart work and were fearful about it, so wanted to play a low profile, but two years later, when they had been doing it for two years, they had more confidence and so decided to change their tactics?

Thanks, Room 215, for the link. I did another search and found several other talks by him. This one must be before the revised NWT came out in 2013 since he uses the old one. It may be a special talk as well because it's a full hour long and contains much independent research, a real no-no for plebeian speakers. I can imagine too that his words must have made any hardliners in the cong squirm! Yes, fulano, Eric Beveridge he is not. Perhaps I am wrong, but it seemed to me that Bev would have fit in better over in the Service Dept., eh?
I hope David is doing well. It's so refreshing to find people like him. It's hard to date these talks since the date of uploading them at YouTube may be long after they were given.

Thanks, fulano. Yes, it's difficult to decipher the reporter's words, "David Iannelli, a religious leader who is one of the district's overseers." Definitely sounds like a non-JW only marginally familiar with JW life speaking. I remember that plane crash when it happened but did not know any Witnesses were on board.

SBF,
Being a helper may not be the main criterion. Was Sanderson? Professing to be anointed, and then having years of full time loyal service, meaning always being a company "yes" man, seem to be the main premises, not necessarily just being one of the helpers. After all, most helpers haven't made it to the GB, right?

joe134cd, thanks for the response. I have heard him rail against American football in some talk he gave that I saw online, so I knew he thought it was an overly violent sport. I understand that he got some negative feedback for his view supposedly because certain COs like football. I was not aware of the revised acronym—that's pretty funny.
So were you at Bethel? If so, when? -

Has anyone else noticed how low key Gerrit Lösch has become? I remember about 4-5 years ago he said in a convention/assembly/broadcast that people should listen to classical music. He's always been an impeccable dresser and seemed to enjoy the "finer" things in life (at least finer in his mind). Putting two and two together, I cannot help but wonder if he's been opposed to this musical change (and likely others) but has simply been outvoted by fellow GBers. That may explain his near disappearance...

Excuse my ignorance, but what are "Field members" (listed in the "C:" at the bottom along with COs, assembly hall overseers, and convention committees)?
