Congregation Reassignments in Ohio?

from what i understand, a letter was read this past week in regards to congregation reassignments and that the elders want to meet with people at their homes to tell them where they have been reassigned.

obviously, this would be due to the merging and dissolution of congregations.

can anyone confirm this?.

Of those in that greater Cleveland area, the Seven Hills KH is worth the most money since it is in the highest socioeconomic location. The distance from Brecksville to W 130th St. is a considerable distance. Will the publishers in the upper-middle class place enjoy being sent to a lower middle-class location with a considerable drive to boot, and losing their own nice KH? Not likely.

The GB, in their great interest to make money, are sowing the seeds of discontent among those in the best position to contribute financially, give the largest green handshakes to the CO and visiting Bethel speakers, etc. Shooting themselves in the foot again, now by irritating their greatest supporters?

Avon Lake has already been mentioned. Does anyone know what's happening on the east side?

These lawsuits over their bungling of the child abuse cases must be really bleeding them dry. Of course, in their eyes they are not to blame, just like the 1975 fiasco.

OSCE = Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

It's not the scandal of the org joining the UN, but it's close, given the OSCE's political activities and goals. Perhaps the GB view it like filing a Friend of the Court brief in legal matters?

Spurred on by criminal investigations. The church is acting "ahead of the grand jury report."

Also exciting is the news that the whole thing began by two sisters who filed a motion to overturn an agreement that had been previously been made. Wouldn't THAT be a nightmare for the GB and their non-disclosure agreements?!

Cart work faces headwinds.

my little bethel bird has whispered in my ear some encouraging news.

it has been reported to the canadian branch that some witnesses doing cart work had police stop them from carting in public parks.

the direction sent to the southern ontario congregations is to cease carting until further notice.. this is no joke.. have a jw-free day..

Request for Australian research: ban on Jehovah's Witnesses in 1941

i am planning on revisiting my (academic) research into the banning of jws in australia in 1941, and was wondering if anyone would have contacts i could interview?

this is obviously a long shot (and it may be children/grandchildren) but i thought it may be worth a shot!.

For your work on the child abuse issue you might consider some factors other than just the two-witness principle that are at work in WTS policy, such as the generally accepted (in Western lands) confidentiality between confessor and minister, the implications of that if it is lost, and the Witness belief that the governing structure in congs today is the basis for what will be used for governing in the new order/forever. The last is a potent factor in understanding the GB's policy on anything, including the child abuse scandal, and it is founded on the notion that the world's governments are controlled by the devil, but the Witness in-house one is not. If you are going to publish on JWs, these sorts of things are crucial to include for your audience, non-JWs.

As for your work on the Aussie government banning JWs during WWII, have you ever read the transcript of the court case that took place in San Diego after Rutherford's death over the controversy of where to bury him? It occurred shortly after the Pearl Harbor attack, when feelings in the USA toward JWs were similar to those among Aussies. Of course, the US didn't ban JWs then, but you might want to look at the trial transcript for similar sentiments, for they are patent.

is it true that there's been no new releases at this summer's convention?

if so it will be the first convention in decades perhaps ever to not produce at least a new tract.. how are the r&f explaining this to eachother?

surely they must have noticed the absence?

It's always "the best assembly ever" and "whatever the F&D slave says" and "you don't think you know more than Jehovah and his org know, do you?"

Besides, watching a video requires less mental work than reading a book, right? Today's R&F love that!

Thanks, Rub a Dub. I remember a bro in a Spanish-speaking cong in S. Calif. telling me that once. He'd been a Bethelite in NY and told me how bad the Spanish was at HQ. The Society's translations of the publications were all being done by Puerto Rican bros and how different that was from what he was used to in Calif. So then this getting "a rev. Spanish NWT" may be a problem. That leads to the question, however, how they pulled it off before, with the previous editions of the NWT? And what about the current publications? Are they being translated into all these different dialects of Spanish?
