Although, come to think of it, the word "physically" might stump a few modern readers!
They are more likely to say "fleshly in"!
i've mentioned before how a regular pioneer used the phrases "tight-pants tony" and "don't drink the kool-aid".
well the other week, a different regular pioneer, and elderly one in fact, was talking about the simplified watchtower being discontinued and the normal one replacing it, and she said 'i guess they're just gonna dumb-down everything'.
then too even the org itself used the words "fade" and "shun" in recent articles, words that were previously shied away from.. anybody here experienced something similar, a seeming pimi saying something that makes you wonder if they've been sneaking ex-jw 'spiritual food' on the side?.

it's just a week or two away and still no sign of the usual hype?
very strange.... anyone heard anything about it?
perhaps from those still in to some degree or from relatives/friends still in?.
SBF's wishful thinking:
Maybe there is some sort of crisis going on at the headquarters and things are falling apart quicker than we expected.

LHG,
"All the stalwart JWs still sitting there (who have two brain cells left to rub together) have to be absolutely nauseous from it all."
From what I hear and have seen, unfortunately but also rather expectedly, many R&F are just digging their pro-org heels in deeper, even to the point of being more irrational than ever. "How dare you bring that subject up!" "I won't listen to this! Stop!" "You don't know what you're talking about." "Of course it's slander. Consider the source. The media belongs to Satan's world, right?"
There will be those, however, who will begin to break down under the barrage of media coverage, but it will surely be a minority. I'm reminded of one account in Ray Franz's book where an elder on a JC said something like, "If the GB tells me that this book cover is red when I always saw it as green, I'll just have to adjust my thinking and say, 'Well, I always thought it was green, but now I know it's red.'"
But I think you are right. There are some who must be suspicious that where there is smoke, there's fire. They know that there are some facts, some truth, behind all the org's denials and bravado. Some victimized sisters who have stayed in know full well how wrong the treatment they received was, and those other sisters to whom they confided know as well. That may well be a pot that is yet to hit the boiling point.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Thanks for the info. The developments and fallout will be interesting to follow.
the german government requires watchtower to publish their own demise.
any changes to congregations has to be published on their website.. https://www.jehovaszeugen.de/amtsblatt.44.0.html .
since 2006 321 congregations have been dissolved and merged into others.
Thx for the info. It would be interesting to see similar stats from other countries that in the past were "success stories" but have had similar downturns like Mexico and Japan.
But Corney, what was the status of those newly created congs? Were they examples of a "new" cong C formed from the now defunct congs A and B? Or maybe a cong D formed from old congs A, B, and C? Could they be at least partly because of immigration, a huge issue in Germany? How can one know such details? New names could reflect the changing realities of territorial adjustments or just a broader geographical name that encompasses more area. Who knows?

I appreciate the post but is there anything new here? The entries are all months and even years old...
today's london times reports on the july ruling of the eu court that forces the organisation country to comply with data protection.. the action originated in finland but the ruling will affect every eu country.
the cult tried unsuccessfully to argue that the notes taken by jws in the door-to-door work were personal and not accessed by the congregation.
the court ruled that they are acting under the auspices of the congregation and therefore they must comply with data-protection laws.. keeping lists of do-not-calls also falls under this ruling.. why does the cult always feel that it is above the law?.
Does anyone know—since one has to pay to see the entire London Times article—why they published this story yesterday when it is old news that dates to July?
See Reuters coverage back then here:
we all know how much the watchtower abhors "higher education" and that apparently jehovah thinks it is a big waste of time.
at least that is their official stance.
it might come as a shock to you that this month they have started a campaign drive to actually recruit jws who have higher education, specifically those who have legal training.. with all the law suits against them for creating an environment that is friendly to paedophiles, it is thus no wonder that they are in need of solicitors, especially those who are sympathetic towards the cult.. talk about hypocrisy!.
Key requirement:
"They must be able to work as a team, follow direction..."
No thinking for themselves and questioning the policies that got the org into hot water on the child abuse issue to begin with.
Vidiot, I don't think they use "worldly" lawyers much.

helena, mont.
— two women who say they were sexually abused as children have alleged that the jehovah's witnesses failed to report their abuser to authorities in montana and instead punished him internally by expelling him from the congregation until he repented the following year.. a trial begins monday in the tiny city of thompson falls for one of dozens of lawsuits filed nationwide in the last decade over claims of child sexual abuse in jehovah's witness congregations.
For Lost in the fog, here's the ref. in RF's CofC. As I said, it is in passing and without naming the group. See note 13. This screen shot is from p. 281 of the 4th ed. of his book.
