My anecdotal evidence is a bit different. For two years (2015-2017) I lived in one place where they did come around 2-3 times a year (surmised from tracts left in my door). I was always gone save once. That time was a lone, middle-aged sister. What struck me was the zero attempt to engage me in any meaningful conversation. She had a tablet, read no Bible passage, offered no literature, and just invited me to a meeting. Given that she was alone, I figured she was a pioneer who was getting her hours in. After that I moved and lived in another location for one year. It was a secure building, so they did not come by. However, the neighborhood was mainly accessible single-family homes and one time I had to park on the street about a block away. When I went to fetch my vehicle, I found a group of 5, 2 bros and 3 sisters, going D2D. We chatted a bit so I could find out about local downsizing. Sure enough their KH was going up for sale, and according to one sister, gullible enough to buy the party line, the money from the sale was for "KH building in foreign lands." Anyway, it's just my experience and I realize that is limited and the situation may be different elsewhere, but in two places where I've lived for the past 3 years, it's both carts and D2D.
If the carts were planned by the Muppets, err, I mean the GB (thank you, Orphan Crow!) for making it easier to pioneer, it's a remarkable case of them being proactive instead of reactive.

The comments here are good—the OP has even brought SBF out of the woodwork!
Just a thought: since the pioneer numbers are up, do you think the cart work was designed to do just that, make it easier to get in the required number of hours by sitting in a chair texting and reading instead of doing the real preaching and teaching work? If so, it would be a rare instance of the GB actually planning something out instead of just being reactive.

Thanks, Atlantis, for the early leak of Spain's info.
Of course, an increasing number of pioneers is expected if they can get huge portions of their FS time sitting at carts while texting and reading instead of actually preaching to the people.
But what is absent is more telling than what is present in the report. They do not discuss the number of congregations or KHs, do they? When discussing the limited number of figures that they choose to highlight, few comparisons are made with previous years (like baptisms, Memorial attendance, "Bible studies"). The implied average size of a cong now seems to be just 70, instead of the 100 or so that it used to be when we were in.
These highly selective statistics are their latest spin. It will be interesting to look at the full report and document both the continuing negative trend we've seen in previous years in most Western lands and what countries have joined those places in going into decreases. Wouldn't it be telling if they began listing things like "average age" of Witnesses, lawsuits filed, lawsuits settled, legal expenses and payouts for child abuse? Fat chance of that!

Question—does anyone know...?
by careful inmost here are familiar with the history of the child abuse issue.
one past policy the org had was forbidding parents to report the child abuser to police or warn other parents in the congregation of the abuser.
they used to threaten dfing if such parents disobeyed the org in this matter.

Most here are familiar with the history of the child abuse issue. One past policy the org had was forbidding parents to report the child abuser to police or warn other parents in the congregation of the abuser. They used to threaten DFing if such parents disobeyed the org in this matter. That may have worked with most married couples who were both in the org, but what about the case of an abused child whose mom was in but whose dad was not? Would not in all likelihood the husband/father has been rightly pissed off that "Bro. Abuser" was not brought before the law because of his wife's crazy religion?
I find it difficult to believe that this never occurred somewhere. Surely it must have. So does anyone know what was done in such cases? Was the sister counseled to keep knowledge of the abuse from her unbelieving husband? The victim too? Did the elders try to talk the husband/father out of going to the cops? What happened?

Typical Antitypical and 1914
by Finally Left incould someone help me with this question please as it has been on my mind for sometime.
watchtower comes along and changes the typical anti typical beliefs and with a stroke of the pen eliminates years of books and teachings.
why does this not apply to 1914?

johnamos,
Yes, that's the kind of thing I meant when I said that the new GB don't think things out. They make a major doctrinal change without even considering such notions as future potential problems with their new view or interpretation. Duhhhh!

Atlantis,
Thanks so much for the recent links. I wondered what had happened to you. Your informative posts are always welcome.
I DLed the directories and looked them over. I don't suppose you have anything for NY that's more current, beyond the 2015 one? It looks like that latest one was put together while some were already up constructing at Warwick but most had not yet moved there. I looked at several names I knew when I was in to see if they're still there. I noticed that in 2015 David Ianelli was listed as working in the Writing Dept. (his work extension is close to others in the WD in number sequence) but there was no residence room phone number or room location. I suppose then that he must have been living elsewhere and commuting in. Do you or anyone else know what the story is here? Did he make the move to Warwick?
I also see that Geoffrey Jackson's wife's name is Loraini (same shared residence room phone number), so statements/posts made here about him having married are now confirmed.
There's a lot to be learned from these lists.
