Lawsuit: I said GB member Barr that my Bethelite stepfather abused me; he did nothing
by Corney inhere's an excerpt from the recent lawsuit deborah hines v. watchtower bible and tract society of new york et al (paragraphs 158-180), one of 29 known cases brought against the org pursuant to the ny child victims act.
what should be kept in mind is that gerrit lösch apparently worked in europe (the austrian branch and eastern europe) at the time when the abuse was allegedly reported to him (not a gb member then).. plaintiff was raised a member of the jehovah’s witnesses.
she primarily attended meetings at various congregations in arizona.

Thanks Corney for this report.
nowwhat?, she was told by "God's organization" not to go to the cops! As someone raised in and probably very naive, she believed it.
If this story ever really got out to the R&F, the repercussions would be huge.

Res,
What will you do if you are put into a position of defending org policies that you disagree with, whether it be something huge like DFing someone for reasons you no longer believe in, or something less drastic like defending some weird teaching?
Also is your family situation at work in you feeling you're not able to step down?

The King of the North and the South, who are they now?
by Anony Mous ini know several wit-lesses that to date are researching these topics.. however i haven't heard much from any publications recently about it, i think the latest refresh was ~10 years ago.
since then the power of the us has severely diminished (or at least the rhetorics about it has), russia is a small potato in modern era, the eu is a cowardly dog in the eyes of everyone and we have the rise of china which is as far as military might is concerned, a paper tiger.. we also have the rise of islam, especially since the end of the nato nation-building effort in afghanistan which is now in power in most of the middle east and africa, as well as regions of asia and growing strong in europe.. does anyone have noooo light about these developments.
is islam the king of the south?

"King of the North? Russia and pals at any moment, but beware things could change, they could be overlapping....." love it mikeflood!
Then there's always the option that the the King of the N and S could become acceptable and unacceptable fragments! "The four basic components of the King of the N are ..." And the faithful will be hanging on every word...
Stay tuned to David Splane. The suspense is huge...

CO said; “Friends (plural) who’ve been raised in the truth are beginning to have doubts regarding their faith”
by pistolpete inhere is what a co said at the elders and ms meeting.
it goes to show that no matter how hard the governing body tries to instill fear of apostates, it's just not working on the young crowd of jws.. it's a new generations of born in jws--------and they don't buy this shit anymore.
it's really over for the watchtower.

Thx so much PP for the OP and report. Thx too FFG for your thoughts. Those in charge of the org are really living in their own world, out of touch with young Witnesses. Indeed, it will be educational to see how things develop when in-person meetings and the D2D work begins again.

What is it with these lard ass GB and gold rings and watches?
by mickbobcat inthey wear jewelry like they are some don from the cosa nostra.
watches and rings like some cheap pimp.
hey they are cheap pimps.

These are gifts that wealthy Witnesses give the power structure to earn brownie points from "God's spokesmen." It's the ultimate "green handshake." They also get free trips overseas from such ones. After getting such gifts the GB members "feel grateful" and show it by wearing such expensive jewelry.

Leaked David Spane Apostate Rant? (Upcoming Lloyd Evans Video)
by Jofi_Wofo inlloyd has a reminder set for a "leaked" video that he will be reviewing tomorrow, but it lacks details in the description.
does anyone know what video he is referring to, or is this an upcoming loyd evans exclusive?.
i find leaks exciting, especially if it's something that was never meant to be public and puts some serious egg on the faces of the blundering body..

In 4-3 judgment, Montana Supreme Court allows Nunez ($35M) case to be relitigated under another legal theory
by Corney inas a reminder, the plaintiff in that case, alexis nunez, was abused by her step-grandfather, maximo reyes, who have been disfellowshipped for one year for abusing his children.
she sued the organization for failure to report the known abuse to police and was awarded $35 million by a jury while another plaintiff (her aunt) lost her case.
the supreme court of montana reversed the award, finding that congregation and bethel elders were exempt from duty to report.. the plaintiff then asked the district court to allow her to sue the org again under another legal theory - common law negligence - which has been voluntarily abandoned by her counsel before the trial.

I never knew Ed Dunlap but sure enjoyed the James commentary.
RK, wow, that's quite a project making up that letter and sending it off to the places you have. It's taken me a long time to stop laughing! It shows how vulnerable the org is to a thinking person since those in the org trust rather than think. No wonder it's had results.
