  What were the things that troubled you as a JW?

  i'm not necessarily asking for the big stumbling blocks here or things you discovered once you started doing your own research outside the borg.

  i'm talking about the smaller things.. for me one thing was the talk of no one being able to become a witness unless "jehovahs drew them to him".

  as a born-in this never jived with me.

  I started seeing that JW's were not for everyone. If it was gods divine plan for humanity, why is there only 6 million members? Are the other 6 billion people on the planet just plain stupid?(yes I know a lot of them are, but thats beside the point) Is the question of universal sovereignty really resolved with that percentage?

  And I was getting soooooooo bored at the meetings. Does my eternal salvation really depend on me trying to be enthused while being so bored? The guilt was really getting to me as well. I felt mass amounts of guilt for not being able to completely go all obsessive compulsive about it like they want you to.

  i'll start.. 1. they don't take showing up for cleaning the kingdom hall seriously and never show up.

  i overheard a sour puss old elder say this to his wife after he just gave a scolding talk on it.

  for those of us who got burned by the borg's bogus bible chronology.... once a few more years go by (at least by 2020 or 2030), the borg will not be able to fit their supposed divinely arranged role into some kind of bible chronology unless they completely overhaul their explanations of the prophecies.

  that leaves them in a catch-22.

  if they got it wrong, what's to make them any more believable in the future?.

  the one good thing about getting older like this is that it brings us that much closer to the new system.

  i was raised a jw, by an inactive jw mom.

  looking back, and reflection on my childhood, causes me to wonder.. i honestly did not miss the holidays, for example.

  i never had them, so nothing was taken away in that regard.

  i was watching how in texas the people of that sect mormon religion are actually getting stronger in their faith, with what is happening, and not weaker.

  being a former witness, we know that the one thing witnesses want more then anything is persecution.

  they are practically begging for the world to turn on them, like they did this cult in texas and i would just bet they are jealous this is happening to these people and not them.
