17 year old son is blaming me for ruining his life from the Cult. He's complaining "I could have been a high school sports star!"
by PhilsWager2 inyou know about my not-so-ugly divorce and how me and my wife found out the religion is false.
she still attends while my 17 year old has been raging on me about all the wasted time he suffered from by being in this religion.
he think's his life is ruined, very angry we did not learn this was a cult earlier(he was 14 when he stopped attending after reading the revelation book, he said "in all time and history, how could a trumpet blown in revelation have anything to do with a jw bible student convention statement"?.

Oh how I wish I could go back in time to when I was 17. I would give anything to go back and tell my mom and step-dad they were in a cult, tell them why, drop mic and walk out. Then go to college and do what I really wanted to do with my life.
But as it was I didn't bother to finish high school because, why bother? The end of the world is coming at any second! (I would have graduated in 1984).
All I can say is have him figure out what he wants to do and go do it. At 17 he is the only one stopping himself.

I was talking to my step-dad some years ago about the flood and how it was stupid that some think it was the flood that made the grand canyon. He said, "how do you know that Jehovah didn't put Noah and everyone in the ark in suspended animation for a half a million years and that's the way the flood made the grand canyon?"
I thought that my usual reply to something that stupid of, "how do you know the giant noodle spaghetti monster didn't create the whole universe 5 minutes ago?" would have been wasted on him.

Who compared the KH donation arrangement to that of a never ending mortgage?
by Boeing Stratofortress init was one of the commenters replying to another thread, but i cannot find it.
it was a great rant & well thought out.
it basically put in simple terms how the donation arrangement is like being forgiven of your 10 year mortgage, then being told you should 'donate' an amount equal to your monthly mortgage payment, but indefinitely.. i'd really like to find that person's reply, so i can use the same logic with some of my family members.

The 10 year thing is really irrelevant. It could be 1 month left. Pay off your last $2000 mortgage this month.....and next month they're going to want another $2000.
If a congregation paid off their bill 10 years ago, I'm sure they're going to want rent on the hall that has already been off.

Question for people who believe in Evolution
by ttte36 inthough school i did religious education and my teacher who was religious ruled out evolution because humans are the only creatures who do not want to die, can anyone who understands evolution explain this?.
im 99% on to the theory of evolution, this is just the last stumbling block..
