  ita funny last night i looked through some awakes from 1991 through 2001.and i saw a lot of refrences saying the un is the beast from revaltion there is also a article about the pope visiting the un.you should all read it its the 1996 awake7/8 funny thing is why would some one who is surporting the un say these things about them.ovesly some people ar cluthing at straws

  The reason the WTS would say those things is that they have no real integrity and are willing to say and print what they don't mean to achieve a goal.

  For you to point that out is highly critical of the WTS and I commend you.

  Fear of Apostates.

  i've been looking at other jw message boards today, and i was struck by the total fear they have of apostates.

  i've been out long enough for it to surprise me.

  these people live in actual dread of "evil apostates".

  Thats very true. They have also created their own view of whats apostacy so that it goes way beyond the Biblical one.By calling everthing under the sun apostacy they can keep members from learning the truth.

  what did you do with your literature when you left?

  i burned my literature except for the wt cd which i sold on ebay.

  i did not want to just throw the literature away as i did not want the trash man to read it and become a witness.

  Thats funny because I have more WT publications now than I did when I was a Wtiness. It was a part of studying my way out. I can get rid of them now though because I have most of the older pubs on cd. I am holding on to a few in case I ever get to show a JW where they taught Christs 2nd presence happened in 1874, as late as 1928. And other shocking classic goodies.

  ...stop the information that the marvelous tool the internet provides all who seek its inner workings?.

  what will they actually be able to do about the momentum of facts, backed by documents and other evidence, that seem to be gaining at a faster pace these days?.

  would they, could they actually hear a miraculous voice that of jehovah telling them that the internet is a tool of satan and then produce a scripture the flock would see as divine guidance through the gb, thus through a new article {new light} that they must give it up completely?.

  The internet is the term we use to describe the technology. The danger to the WTS is the knowledge that is available via the internet.

  I don't think they will survive. At least not as the WTS we see today.

  There are many examples of the WTS rsponding to their critics in the pages of their literature. In the past only the critics knew it was a "response". Now however, because of the spread of knowledge all can see the challenge made and wait to see the WTSs response. This will educate many as to how the WTS operates.

  Since the debate is now public the WTS will have to adapt to publicized facts rather them keep them secret.

  Take earthquakes.

  This is some of what the WTS used to say about quakes:

  Significantly, since 1914 there have been more major earthquakes than in any previous period of similar length in recorded history. Since 1948 the pattern has entered a new phase, with approximately one great quake a year."

  This what the WTS now says since knowledge that earthquakes are NOT increasing is widely available at the USGS website for example .

  *** g02 3/22 p. 9 Earthquakes, Bible Prophecy, and You ***Note, though, that the fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy does not require an increase in the number or power of earthquakes.

  So the WTS changes in response to widely available knowledge. Not as fast as they should but they will be forced to change rather than ridiculous even to the R&F.

  I would imagine other doctrinal changes are soon to follow. Given enough time I think the WTS will move toward a more mainstream org. In order to keep members control will gradually loosen and knowledge will not be denied.

  Do you feel 'Disconnected' since leaving the borg?

  i mean - many of us had a history that was exclusively in the 'truth'.

  nothing else.. now having left, do you long for a discussion with some who share your past culture, understandings, and lifestyle?.

  is that the 'appeal' of this board to many?

  I'm having trouble making new friends. My wife is still a witness so this holds me back. Its hard to get her to make new friends because she just wants to hang with the JWs.

  I can and have done things with other guys who share my hobbies but if it doesn't progress to getting the wives together and all making plans together it is not the same as what things were like when I was a witness.

  When we go to a witness gathering or have them here I just feel out of place. Like I'm doing something for my wife and thats it.

  She probably feels the same when I get her to go to a nonwitness gathering. This is definetly going to be a challenge.

  Something I wonder.......

  a month ago my mother died.

  she had been a witness for 40 years.

  when she was sick she got me wondering if all the witnesses think that this system will come to an end in there lifetime and they won't have to go thru death?

  I have read much of what Russell wrote about the Millerites and the connection between he and they.

  Millerites, Adventists, Bible Students. It all sounded good if armageddon came in 1914 as Russell predicted. But now almost a 100 years later and JWs numbering in the 6 millions it is no good. Even with the Remnant supposedly being gathered by 1935 there would be way over 144,000 if Millerites and Adventist were included. No wonder the WTS only goes back to Russell when relating their history.

  I have not seen any attempt to explain any of those actions. If you ask as I did they won't answer. Their widely distributed form letter is essentially all the comment they have. Only those willing to dig deeper know the truth.

  there exists many interesting facts in direct conflict with the watchtower society, or are just not brought forward for some reason or another by the watchtower society.

  this is a well known fact amongst many observers, and previous witnesses, that the watchtower society either hides the evidence by not mentioning anything about the material, or indirectly by misquoting the source (as is the case of the ante-nicene fathers).

  i am starting a collection of jw doctrines and practices that have no basis in the scriptures and (preferably) that the scriptures or secular history directly contradicts.

  this isn''t a thread for arguing with scholar is he drops by.

  i want as comprehensive a set as possible as part of a project i am working on, so even if you aren't sure of one, please toss it in the mix.

  That the Great Crowd in Revelation 7 is on earth.

  The Bible says the Great Crowd is in Heaven in Revelation 19 and in Chapter 7 it says they are before the throne and in Gods temple the same place as the angels.

  So there is no Biblical reason to choose that they are on earth. Unless you already believe that and interpret the scriptures to conform to your beliefs. This is of course backwards.
