Charles Taze Russell, the founder of the Watchtower, believed that the "sign in the sun, moon and stars" of Matthew 24:29 had their fulfillment in two mysterious events that occurred in 1780 and 1833.

What was the first sign that Russell said occurred in 1780?
by jwfacts instudies in the scriptures (1897) vol.4 p.604 states;
reckoning a hundred years from 1780, the date of the first sign, the limit would reach to 1880; and, to our understanding, every item predicted had begun to be fulfilled at that date".
does anyone know what that sign in 1780 was?.

Blondie, you are so right about JWs and the appendixes. I have often referred to appendix 1d and had my companions go "what?" Let alone having a basic idea of the references and arguments made. I mean this is where they argue for placing Jehovah in the Christian scriptures and they don't that it exists. There are two people I know who are familiar with it, me and my mom. Both have left the org.

I have a copy of Mullers book with the full text. It is a real dead blow to the WTS. It is one of the instances where it is clear that the WTS really knows how deceptive they are being and it is no accident.
They probably thought no one would ever find that book. Powerful testament to the internet.

I always thought the Old Testament depictions of Yahwehs wars was very alienish. Firery missles from the sky, cities burned up in fire, men appearing out of no where and everyone could tell they weren't human just by looking at them. I have seen some sites that discuss this in detail but I don't remember where. Just always thought if you could pull Christianity out of the Old Testament you could pull aliens out as well.

Inform Yourself
by MerryMagdalene inin my open letter to the governing body "i want my mother back," i told them i would be sending copies of my letter to others as well-- friends, family, media-- along with a list of web sites where these could go for a more complete picture of the wts's doctrines.. here it is, but i need help finishing the list.
i decided to add books because not everyone has internet access.
please give me the names of the books that have so often been recommended here (i didn't write them down).

Just read your letter and I must say you are quite good at expressing yourself to the point. I'm sorry for your situation. It must be tough having so many family members still in, especially your Mom. I think you are right about speaking out Loudly about the abuse of the WTS and I am feeling like doing the same. Keep up the good work.
