Flying to Orlando tomorrow, my daughter is in the hospital

they'll be testing through the night...apparently, her heart is enlarged as well.
she is scared... and if her jw father catches wind of it, he will be there trying to intefere with her treatment... he lives close by to her, so i'll be flying down in the morning....to head him off at the pass.

He lives close by to her, so I'll be flying down in the morning....to head him off at the pass. She is a single mom...so the kids need to be taken care of too. The oldest just turned 16. He is the one I wrote about who walked from Orlando to DC to call attention to the huge number of homeless kids in the U.S. I am so proud of him. I talked to him a little while ago, and he found a place for himself,and his brother and sister to stay for the night with the grandparents of one of his friends. So they will be well taken care of until I get there.
Not the Thanksgiving I planned, but I have to be there for her, and my grandkids.... Hopefully, I'll cook them a turkey on Thursday, and I'm hoping my daughter will be home to enjoy it by then.
I'll be flying (said I wouldn't do that until the craziness of the scanning and pat down stuff is resolved) but this is my daughter we are talking about... and I'll move heaven and earth to get to her side.
My poor boyfriend... I had planned to cook on Thanksgiving at his house... the food is sitting at his frig... now he'll have to do the cooking.... I'll be 1500 miles away...

Why did "Back Calls" change to "Return Visits"?
by donuthole indoes anyone remember the rationale that was used in rebranding "back calls" as "return visits"?.
while on the subject does anyone else remember any theocratic name changes like,.

jws have to keep up with the current lingo... just another measure of conformity. I remember at one point they tried to change meeting for field service to rendesvous for field service. My mom hit the roof... said it made us sound like a bunch of French spies, and sounded rediculous. She refused to use the new term.

a car drove through my next door neighbor's house

A Social Security question...
by coffee_black inthis has been nagging at me...and i think that tomorrow i'll call the ss office to find out for sure.. my jw xhusband recently started collecting ss.
he is 62. i was married to him for almost 20 years, and we filed taxes jointly.
we divorced in 1990. i don't think he paid much into ss if at all.. he had his own business.. and worked for others for short periods of time over the years.

Disgusted over what her parents gave the Watchtower org.!
by koolaid-man informer jehovah's witness, pioneer and bethelite woman is disgusted over how much money her parents gave to the watchtower org., over 160 gorgeous acres of land in upstate new york.
one of the watchtower farms buildings was built on a portion of this land.
she will be telling her whole story and how her life was adversely affected by the "evils of the watchtower org".

As someone who was raised in the wt organization, a 3rd generation jw, I don't think you have any idea about the damage the wt does to individuals and families.
Conversing with a few jws and reading thier literature doesn't expose you to the reality of the situation....nor does it qualify you to judge in any way. Many on this board have lost thier entire families due to wt shunning policy. Some, like myself have lost loved ones who died due to wt teachings. Many have deep problems in moving on with thier lives after the wt. This is not a hate group here...but it is a safe place for those who have suffered such loss...to grieve and express thier feelings with those who understand. Just move on, you say? Obiously, you have not experienced such a loss, nor do you know the wt for what it is. Exposing the wt helps prevent more people from becoming its victims.
If you really want to understand, go to the best of section on this board. Read about the history of the wt and the stories of countless xjws who have suffered at the hands of the wt. Until then, you don't have a clue.

Hospital Liason Committee Arseholes
by Hairyhegoat inplease be aware if you have just faded and were baptised , if you or your family have a major life or death accident the mongols from the hospital liason committe will always be there before you and will still try to take over the care for the family member.
why does this happen, you need to delete the master records of all family members and they are now not jw any more, if you don't they will still be called and you will have a fight on your hands to get them to leave.
contact your doctor / gp or hospital and get this sorted out.

My x husband tried to get the HLC involved when my granddaughter,Aubrey, age 11 was critically injured. She was never a dub, and her mom, my daughter, was never baptized and never considered herself a dub...leaving the organization when I did. He was relentless. Would have overruled my daughter's decisions on Aubrey's treatment if he could have. He has since gone behind my daughter's back in an attempt to get Aubrey, now 12 to go to meetings with him. He was stopped dead in his tracks when my daughter found out.
When my son David was about 12 ( I was da'd by this time, and I had custody) my x gave David a blood card to carry with him. David gave it to me. My x listed himself as the only parent, and his info to call in an emergency...and that no blood was to be given. By then my son didn't believe any jw stuff, but was forced to go to meetings during visitation with his dad. Obviously I took the card...and confronted my x on his sneakiness.
