reading voltaires post about his mom not shunning him got me thinking.. i'm sure there will be other parents as well as siblings that see the falicy of the wts teaching that parents must shun their children if the wts demands it.. but what do you think will happen if the wts decides to make examples out of those parents that would dare not blindly follow the wts directions?.
what will happen if the wts starts dfing the parents that will not shun their children?.
as we are finding out, the wts wants even those that are not df or da'd shunned.. that's obvious from the acounts of those that are being shunned even tho they are not df or da'd.. so what do you think will happen when the wts realizes that they don't have complete control of their followers and some of them (gasp) are continuing having a relationship with their children even tho they may for whatever reason not be a practicing jw?.
...and I wonder if the two witness rule will apply for those caught associating with an xjw.

remember, you had the truth!
everybody else didn't even have a clue!
the worldly people never understood our spiritual paradise.
I was raised in it.
I felt special only because I was part of the group. As an individual though, one wasn't supposed to call attention to oneself. You weren't supposed to stand out in a croud. I have a talent in art, and every time I created something, I was accused by some of bragging...or trying to be noticed.
The self esteem came because of the group. You didn't have any of your own.

i don't understand why people can't see the truth when it's right there in the bible in black & white.
you can't change it to fit your personal lifestyle or modify it by only applying what intrest or benefits you.
the wt organization has its place just like all the other secular laws have theres to protect & guide us.
Hi, Curyus (cute name)
The problem is that the watchtower doesn't just try to guide. It controls...every aspect of your life.
They demand your total submission, and total loyalty. Their track record is horrible.
They are false prophets. Their changing teachings have cost the lives of many many people, and the society takes no responsibility for it. Their policies about child molestation have allowed thousands of children to be victims of unspeakable crimes. Again, they take no responsiblility. Their changing teachings have moved many to sell all they had and pioneer because the end was so close. Again, they take no responsibility. They were part of the UN, while at the same time condemning it. They have caused countless families to be destroyed, That's just the tip of the iceburg.
They are excused by jws because "they are imperfect men". Ok, then if that's all they are, then why should anyone follow them? The Bible, by the way says to "obey God as ruler rather than men". God allowing the organization to exist doesn't prove anything. He allows all religions to exist. Does that mean they are all right?
. The organization is not God. It's claims to be the only channel used by Him is a rediculous claim if you know anything at all about their history.

you may have heard someone say "if jehovah's witnesses don't have the truth, then there isn't any truth".
in fact, some of you may have at one time been so convinced that you said that very statement yourselves.. now you sing a different tune.. the following question is directed towards those who have left the organization, yet still agree with their stand on major doctrines such as (no) trinity, (no) hellfire, and who at one time clearly saw (and maybe still do) the paganism mixed into the popular holidays...... do you believe that "there isn't any truth" now, or did you turn to somewhere else for spirtuality?.
and if you have turned somewhere else, have you had to accept doctrines that you don't believe in at all, just so you could have somewhere to go (i.e.
Hello, and welcome,
This is a common JW question, and the premise is based on two scriptures that are misrepresented by the organization.
First, John 6:68, which reads:" Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."
Second, John 14:6 where Jesus said "I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"
Read in contect, the truth is not information, it is a person, and that person is Jesus. The society continually quotes John 6:68 and applies it to the organization. The question asked by John was not where elses shall we go, but to whom.
Having the truth is not about having a set of doctrines down pat. God is not going to give you a pop quiz to determine if you are deserving of salvation. When you stand before your maker, you will stand as an individual, and cannot hide behind the skirts of the organization. Knowledge is not what will save you. Jesus said in John 5:39 " You diligently study the scriptures because you think that by them you will posess eternal life. These are the scriptures that testify about me, Yet you refuse to come to me to have life". John 17:3, often quoted by the organization is mistranslated to make it appear that knowledge is what gives you life. Look in your own interlinear, and you will find that it is knowing God and Christ that will give you salvation. The difference is huge. Knowing means having a personal relationship with God and Christ. Taking in knowledge is just retaining information. Example: I have a significant knowledge of Renoir, the artist. I will never know him, however. Knowing about someone and knowing them personally are two different things.
You will never impress God with how much you know. (or think you know) Personally, I think we're all in for enormous surprises. No one has all the answers. Thankfully, our lives don't depend on that. The Bible says that "knowledge puffs up. Love builds up" So, I concentrate on learning to show real love in every aspect in my life.
Personally, I have a relationship with God that was not possible when I relied on an organization for my answers. My relationship is one on one, no middle man. It was paid for by Christ, and no human can take that away. Not even the watchtower society.

was a witness in tucson from '79-'91.
looking for any other black sheep.
No, sorry... but I taught at the one in Orlando Florida for a couple of years. It was originally called School for the New Order, but was changed to Pal academy. Doesn't exist any more. The society didn't like the idea of it. This was back in the early 80s.

the jw comments to the scottish press available at the silent lambs website sounded very familliar!
looks like more outright lying!
"jehovah's witnesses further believe that it is the absolute right of the victim, his or her family or anyone else to report the matter to the authorities if they so choose.
Hi professor,
The society is being as cunning as ever. The word sanction has more than one meaning. One of the meanings is "to approve". If you read the above with that definition in mind, they are really saying that they will not give their approval for victims to go to the athorities, nor will they give their approval for those taking blood. They always use this word in these kinds of situations. I believe they use it because it can be taken whichever way that suits their interests, and can be used to decieve the public and athorities.
