yeah, what is your comfort zone?
what makes you feel secure, relaxed, happy and comfortable?
care to share?
Golf,
I don't fudge it...I just admit that I've never had that question before, and I will find out the answer and get back to that person. I then get their business card, find the answer and then keep my word and get back to them within a few days. My "audience" is usually architects and engineers and will know if I try to fake it. And it's great for me, because I will know the answer the next time I am asked. I don't put on any pretentions. I am just myself. They seem to like that.

spending time with my sweetheart... or my kids & grandkids....or friends in good conversation over a glass of wine.
And this one that really surprises me, but thinking about it, it's true... public speaking. I do it for a living now, and I am very comfortable with it, now that I've been doing it for a number of years. I don't even get nervous... even if there is a large group. I enjoy the questions I get too... even the ones that I can't answer. I've learned how to handle them.
Painting & drawing... when I'm in the "zone"....there's nothing like it.

i was just thinking of this, because of my last post topic.
if the watchtower changed their no blood policy to accepting whole blood, would and could that .
open the flood gates for law suits from jdubs that sacrificed their children for the tower, or would .
My dad died in 1978 due to kidney failure...refused a transplant because of Watchtower teachings. (he had been on dialysis for several years) I can't even describe the feeling I had when I read the "questions from the readers" that changed the policy. Yet I stayed for another decade before seriously questioning. It was one of many factors in my leaving. A lawsuit never crossed my mind at the time... after I was out I casually discussed it with an Lawyer but by then it was too late anyway.

i have been trying to get up enough nerve to tell you my whole story but am finding it painful and scary to write about.

my son made a point to tell me that they had what was to him a very interesting, different talk on the service meeting this week.
the presiding overseer gave a talk on the society's changed view of getting a college education.. he used the scripture which admonishes the reader to "acquire a heart of wisdom" and applied it to getting a 4 year college education for the sake of being able to support oneself at double the rate of pay with one's degree upon graduation.
this of course is only for the purpose of being able to then pioneer, only having to work a few days a week, thereby having the time for the field ministry.. such an annoying change - finally!
I graduated High School in 1969. My dad, a well respected elder (and very smart man, I might add) believed in education. He wasn't shy about his views in the congregation, and no one could prove him wrong. (some tried... he showed them that they were idiots, and they left him alone after that.) I went to college with my dad's full encouragement and blessing. Quit after a year to marry the wrong man, but that's another story.
My point is that there are some elders who know how wrong the society has been about education, and you may have one who wants to apply a little reason to the subject. He may just be going out on a limb.

does anyone have any experience using exit counselors?
Hi,
I just wanted to address Logans experience with someone on the helpline saying that they believed in modern day miracles, even to raising of the dead.
I hadn't said who I am here, but I think I need to. My name is Debbie Shard and I'm a board member of BRCI. I answered the helpline on and off for about 8 years, but haven't for at least the past 5 years. Logan's experience disturbed me, and I'm on the phone now with Marilyn because I thought she should know about it. This is from Marilyn: "We at BRCI do not engage in exit counseling. We are a non doctrinal group, formed specifically to help others in their recovery. If I had known of the incident, I would have put a stop to it immediately. That is not what we are about. We have both wracked our brains and can't think of anyone who answered the helpline who would have voiced such a thing. Could it have been a referral? We've had to remove some for engaging in that type of behavior. We appologize for your experience."
