  in the past whenever you went on vacation (holiday) did you try and find a kingdom hall to attend and also try and put in some service time?.

  Yes, every summer when we went to Vermont for vacation. We even "vacation pioneered" there one summer.

  i have had about 5 digital watches since my nde when i was young.

  every single one of them reset itself regularly.

  2 of them i gave away because of the problems i had, and their new owners (my father and brother) never had a problem with the watches since..

  I've never had a near death experience...but watches don't work on me.... They either run very fast or stop completely. With the exception of about a year...when I decided to try to wear one because I thought it looked professional. Seemed ok...and I bought a few nice watches...for variety.. About a year later they started doing the same crazy stuff, so I quit trying. It doesn't matter if it's digital, or the kind that you have to wind. I still have them tucked away in a drawer. I wind them and replace batteries just in case I want to try again. They run fine as long as I'm not wearing them.

  I never tried to figure it out...it's not really important to my life...but it is pretty weird.

  Insensitive talk assignments

  i once was assigned a talk on masturbation when i was about fifteen or so.

  the theme of the talk was to discourage masturbating (actually to forbid the practice), as it was considered by the society a no no.

  looking back on it, it offends me to this day that they would give a kid such a sensitive and embarrassing talk assignment like that.

  I was assigned a talk on circumcision 2 weeks before my wedding. I was 18...and I didn't know what it was. I declined the assignment...told 'em I was too busy with wedding stuff.

  she and frank are supposed to find a new care home for their father so today they made arrangements to go together and look for one.

  Multiple zipper tabs....GRRRRR!!!!!

  who decided that it was a good idea to put 2 zipper tabs on each zipper in luggage and bags?

  it used to be easythe zipper started at one endand it went one way to open and one way to close.

  Who decided that it was a good idea to put 2 zipper tabs on each zipper in luggage and bags? It used to be easy…the zipper started at one end…and it went one way to open and one way to close. Simple. But no…now there are 2 tabs, which opens up all sorts of frustrating possibilities. Sometimes (most of the time, actually) I pull the wrong one, thinking I’m opening it…but I’m really just pulling both tabs and all I’ve accomplished is to move the whole thing to the other side...and it is still closed.

  My computer bag has 5 compartments…an office on wheels. Each compartment closes with a zipper…so there are 10 tabs to choose from. Why? What possible advantage is there to this? I have daily fights with the thing…and I can’t find a new one that doesn’t have this same wacky feature.

  I’d like to find the person responsible for this exercise in frustration and give him/her a piece of my mind.

  All I know is that if they ever decide to do this to the zippers on pants, the human race is doomed.

  Ok, I feel better now.

  seems michael moore was using some of the same tricks the watchtower uses (taking quotes entirely out of context).

  interesting...makes you wonder what else was misrepresented in the film.. coffee injured vet sues michael moore for $85 million.

  I wasn’t talking scale…I was talking method. The method the Watchtower uses in quoting scriptural passages and scientific statements entirely out of context is the exact method that Michael Moore is accused of using. The Sgt. was talking about the physical pain he was having and the new medication that was helping. The quote was used in a different context to make it appear as if the Sgt. was in extreme emotional pain for being abandoned by his government. (which he wasn’t) It would be like someone making a “documentary” about the Watchtower using snippets from various threads you wrote and using your words out of context to make it appear as if you were promoting the society. Do you think that you would be upset?

  Sorry, Abaddon, but this reminds me of someone defending the borg…ie: “er…well …they never actually came out and said that Armageddon was coming in 1975”

  Then you did something else that jws do… try to switch the focus onto George Bush. Sorry, Abaddon, but even if everything MM claims is true, the methods he is accused of using will discredit whatever else he says. If it is proven that he deliberately deceived his audience about this instance, than it calls everything else he has said into question. Just like when we discovered one incident of deception in the Watchtower…and it made us question other issues as well….and it all fell like a house of cards.

  What if someone used parts of threads you wrote, edited them in a such a way as to make it look like you are a huge supporter of George Bush, and then used that material to promote George Bush internationally? Would you take that lying down? Skillful editors can make black look like white and vice versa...which is why you have to be so careful these days as to who to believe.

  Time will tell. The Sgt. will have his day in court. It will be an interesting case to follow.
