our congregation had a number of elderly ones who regularly complained that no one ever helped them.
since the elders didn't really want to be responsible for them, they decreed that the family should help out first.
fair enough.
When I was growing up, my parents were always helping anyone in the cong. in need...physical or financial. When my parents became sick (they died a year apart and pretty young) the cong. mobilized to help in any way possible. They took my dad to the hospital for his dialysis..had a regular schedule made up. They stayed with him and brought him home afterwards. My mom was in and out of the hospital with cancer and I had an infant daughter to take care of as well. There were continuous visitors both at the hospital and in their home. They babysat, did laundry, cleaned...they even helped bathe my dad. .. it was unbelievable. I don't know how I would have made it through that time in my life without them.
I never saw anything like it before or since.

all of this talk about bojangles chicken has got me in the mood for a food related topic, so here it is.. .
is there any food dishes or style of cooking that is unique to your region?.
growing up in dayton ohio, i have a love affair for "dayton style" pizza, this is pizza that is thin crust, cut in squares, and they use diced meats and veggies, along with provolone cheese.
ooooh....and look! I just became a Jedi! Took me long enough!

New England clam chowda, Indian pudding, Boston Baked beans, Sweet corn on the cob...There are 2 restaurants in Boston that claim to be the oldest in the U.S.... the Union Oyster House and Durgan Park. Seafood is big here..Cod & Haddock... and then there's the North End where you can find great Italian Restaurants.

an evil witch, had cast a spell on a prince.
he was only able to say, 1 word every year.
if he remained silent and skipped a year, he could say two words, and so on.
Outaservice,
I've never seen a green wall whistle. Can you provide a picture? How does one play a green wall whistle?

i was thinking about my grandmother today......my dad's mother.
We were at an assembly at Yankee Stadium, and there were a ton of pigeons overhead. My grandfather had a bald spot and one pigeon used him for target practice...covered his whole bald spot and much more....
The picture was taken at that assembly before the pigeon did it's damage. He's the one on the far right... my grandmother of the peanut story is next to him... I'm the little person, and the remaining couple are my paren

i don't have much time to post as i'm headed back to the hospital, but my father collapsed this morning and had to be rushed to the hospital.
in a nutshell: he needs a blood transfusion as his hemoglobin is dropping (bleeding internally), but thanks to this fucking cult, that's not an option...........he'll accept the fractions but those bastards from the blood liaison committee have already shown up to ensure he doesn't cave............... for those of you who still believe, i'm asking you to say a prayer for my dad........and if anyone from crooklyn is reading this: you better hope my father doesn't die due to your fucked up rules, .
I'm so glad your dad is getting better. Maybe when all the dust settles and he's back to normal, your parents may begin to realize how uncaring thier jw "friends" really are.
You're in my thoughts, Mary... take care of yourself too!

My grandmother and a few of her friends went for a drive in the New England countryside in her Model T Ford. She had been in the U.S. for about 10 years by this time, but still had a very pronounced Swedish accent. (she never lost it)
They had brought along a big bag of peanuts to snack on, and peanut shells were all over the place in the car. Eventually they had to stop at a gas station to use the rest room. They asked the attendant where the rest room was...but with the Swedish accent it apparently sounded like where is the wisk broom....plus he saw that there were peanut shells everywhere. He thought about it for a minute and said "Well ladies, it's here today, and gone tomorrow, but if you go around the side of the building there is an airpump and you can blow it all out".
They got back in the car and sped out of there...horrified. They didn't figure it out until much later.

even if they aren't running, who would you like to see as the next president?
?
Sorry Flipper, but both Edwards and Gore say one thing and do the exact opposite. I don't trust people like that.

Not "funny ha-ha"...
more like "funny uh-oh"
