  What the hell is the MATTER with these people?

  i work nights so when i get off i'll run by walmart to grab something to make for breakfast or just if i need something or whatever.

  this morning at 6:55 (i know because i looked at my watch) a little black girl maybe 7 years old came up to me by herself to offer me a tract... i mean come on it's still full freaking dark out and this poor little kid is handing out tracts alone.

  i asked her "where are your parents.

  And you, Rosalee, are assuming that there were other adults closer than the child's parents. You don't know that either. Her parents were quite a distance from her, (that much we do know) and if someone with bad intentions tried to snatch her, they could do nothing to stop it. Use some common sense. The child that young should not have approached an adult while being virtually alone. The child was put in a potentially dangerous position by her parents. Most jw adults are even admonished to go from door to door in twos....not alone.

  this chart is out of date and i am wondering if anyone can find more contemporary statistics?.

  i am wondering if there is some way possible for wbts to be billed for medical expenses caused by the psychological harm inflicted when dubs end up in dr. offices or hospital as a result of spiritual trauma and spiritual warfare?.

  seems to me that we could make them take some responsibility.. (i am not providing the link because this is second-hand information).

  Tula,

  I wish it was possible, but I don't think the wt will ever take responsibility or admit liability. They always blame the rank and file. We all understand the pain...and some are more fragile than others... and some experience unbelievable cruelty at the hands of elders and family. If there was a way to hold them responsible for the damage they cause, I'd be all for it...

  When they changed their policy regarding organ transplants two years after my dad died of kidney failure I was numb...and it took me years to face that issue. When I finally left the watchtower I explored the possibility of taking legal action. I was told by attorneys that it would be nearly imposssible to win a lawsuit...because we hold religious freedom so dear... and my dad was in the organization by choice.... So there you have it...

  Introduction

  Experts now agree that schizophrenia develops as a result of interplay between biological predisposition (for example, inheriting certain genes) and the kind of environment a person is exposed to. These lines of research are converging: brain development disruption is now known to be the result of genetic predisposition and environmental stressors early in development (during pregnancy or early childhood), leading to subtle alterations in the brain that make a person susceptible to developing schizophrenia. Environmental factors later in life (during early childhood and adolescence) can either damage the brain further and thereby increase the risk of schizophrenia, or lessen the expression of genetic or neurodevelopmental defects and decrease the risk of schizophrenia. In fact experts now say that schizophrenia (and all other mental illness) is caused by a combination of biological, psychological and social factors, and this understanding of mental illness is called the bio-psycho-social model.

  It goes into greater detail, but it does say that social factors are part of the picture. That would include the only social interaction a jw is allowed.

  There have been studies done, and there is a higther rate of mental illness among jws than in the general population. Jerry Bergman has done quite a bit of work in this area. I don't have any links...but I think a google search of his name might get you some additional info. I read his stuff a very long time ago.

  Rosalee.. You sound like an extremely unhappy person. I went back and read some of your older posts because your posts on this thread seemed a bit off. Could it be that the subject matter hit a bit too close to home? If you think you are proving that the watchtower is God's organization by your attitude, you are actually proving the opposite. Followers of Christ treat others with respect, not contempt. Are you really as bitter as you sound? If so, then maybe you should get some help. Seriously.

  i thought crumpet's thread was really interesting and that everyone was really supportive in their answers.

  then i thought about what words would describe me - i imagine lots of folks thought that.

  i used to have in my profile "short fat ugly old and mean" which was a joke but offended someone...currently i would described myself as tired and a little crabby and inclined to be unsympathetic, which was always my husband's complaint about me anyway.

  from previous posters, we have had access to the watchtower's accounts (uk), and especially the related company (ibsa), but... apparantly accounts are not as easily available in america.. does that apply to canada too ?.

  how much the organisation is worth worldwide ?how much profit the organisation makes worldwide ?.

  i'd be interested to know.. thanks in advance.

  In the Proclaimers book there are about 50 pages of pictures of branch facilities all over the world... a real estate empire... The last duns report I saw on them was for the early 90s... at the time their annual income was listed as just under 1 billion.
